After many requests over the past two years, we are finally organizing a singles event! Thanks for your patience!
Kayaking on Lake Merritt is so fun, the views stunning, and wildlife thriving -- and this event does not require you know how to swim as everyone wears a life jacket on this shallow lake!
We will learn about the history of the lake and identify wildlife in one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in the country. Binoculars provided.
Kayak rental rates are as low as $12 for Oakland residents. Please be prepared to bring cash as they do not take cards. For more information on pricing and options, please click HERE
Picnic to follow, so please bring a bag lunch.
Here is the rub...you must RSVP with at least one single friend of the opposite sex OR who does not want what you want gender-wise...ALL singles welcome! Just bring someone to support a good, diverse mix of people!
This specific event is intentioned to be pressure-free and for singles - this means if you are in a serious relationship, not-looking, separated, married, domestically partnered, wannabe single, not quite legally divorced, don't want to meet someone new, or otherwise unsure, we strongly recommend you do not positively RSVP to this event.
But fear not OA committed ones and Fearless Fence Sitters! We got mucho love for you too, and will offer more and regular Lake Merritt kayaks to everyone as more warmth descends on the bay!
What to bring:
- A friend who does not want what you want in a new "friend" and you consider GREAT catch -- for somone else!
- Sunscreen glasses, hat, sunscreen
- Clothes you do not mind getting wet-ish
- Cash for the rental (no cards accepted)
- Proof of residency to determine if you get the discounted Oakland rate
- Did we mention smiles?
- Sack Lunch
See you there!
