This is a member-led hike, hosted by Outdoor Afro Al C. of Tracy. The event was inspired by another member's recommendation, and it's been great to see all the enthusiasm for making it happen.

This was our first meetup with the group and it was AWESOME! Al's enthusiasm, positive energy and zest for life is contagious.....definitely worth getting up at 4:30am (on a Saturday) for a hike. The caves were awesome and it was great to be in the company of good people! We are looking forward to our next adventure with the Outdoor Afros. Have a happy, healthy and blessed 2013 all! :)

Pinnacles was great. The rain held off until we were finish. And Al and everyone else made Outdoor Afro a happening group once again. Thanks to everyone. And I will be sending the pics very shortly.

Hello Marin Guy, I haven't heard from you. What time should I meet you in Sausalito tomorrow?

    January 4, 2013

  • Kafi P.

One more question . . . Is it possible to not do the entire trail or will we be lost in the wilderness? :-)

    January 3, 2013

    • Rue M.

Kafi - the point of our gatherings is to do them together so we can both fellowship AND be safe. There are more hikes can attend later in the year, so if this one seems a bit to much for comfort, please don't hesitate to sit this one out! :)

Thanks Al and Rue. I'm thinking the boys might not last 4 hours . . . but maybe they will!

Can kids go on this hike? Also, does the hike start at 7 am? I notice it's a couple hours away from where we are. Thanks. It looks incredible.

Hey Clay if you want to carpool, meet me in Sausalito. Let me know. I have room for 2 others if interested. Meet in Sausalito or SF.

    • A. C.

Hi Marin Guy, I'd love to carpool with you as well. You can meet in SF?

      December 31, 2012

  • Clay

Al, I just committed to the trip. I have hiked in Pinnacles a few times. Is there still room in your vehicle. I am coming from El Sobrante.

this is a 2 1/2 hour drive from richmond...are we meeting there at 7am?

    December 29, 2012

    • Rue M.

Diedre - I will check with Al, but I agree that timing is pretty brutal for north bay area folk! Stay tuned!

If a volunteer team leader has committed to taking on the Pinnacles State Park. I would like to pose the following question: Is there carpooling?

    December 27, 2012

    • Nsoroma

That's a flattering thought, however since I'm a newcomer I would not feel comfortable until I experience several outings to see how things work. Thanks.

So great to see the enthusiasm! People typically arrange their own carpools using this list. If anyone has questions about organizing - please give me a call[masked]

Not sure if this going to happen but I'm trying to plan a 3 month itinerary and I can't incorporate this event without a date. Any updates?

Anybody interested in a hike up Mt. Meru (Tanzania, East Africa) is welcome to come along on my annual sojourn (www.enterafrica.net). I know it's not local, but for those who also think globally, it's a beautiful hike and experience.

Please see the response above! Thanks!

Hey all - Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm about this idea, and sorry for any confusion! This was a suggested meetup from a member who lives in another state - I love the idea, but the volunteer leadership team has not committed to taking this particular event on. We can keep it as a placeholder until someone wants to lead it. Note that anyone can suggest a meetup, however we prefer for people to lead their suggested meetups as the leadership team may or may not be able to do so.

Thanks again, and happiest of holidays!

    Rue

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
