See all- Casual wander at Cameron Wildlife Sanctuary and Cedar Swamp TrailPark North Cameron Wildlife Sanctuary, Marmora, NJ
Cameron WS is a very small but picturesque park in Upper Township. All the trails together are only about 1.5 -2 miles. Some pavement, some woods. Many ponds, swinging benches.
We will then drive 6 minutes over to Cedar Swamp Trail. The parking area only hold 5-6 vehicles so depending on attendance may need to carpool. Here we will see meadows with a graveyard, and swamps. This trail is about 1.0-1.5 miles but interesting.
Why do I title my hikes as casual? Because I’m not really slow at 22-24 minute miles, nor are my hikes particularly short, more mid-range; but I do take a break approximately every 3 miles and I also like to look at nature, take time for photos, spot interesting things and don’t mind stopping for comfort breaks. I’m in no hurry. If you need to slow down, ask. If you want to go faster, you picked the wrong leader/hike.
Be sure to bring water, even in the cold. I also recommend at least a snack for the break. Be sure to be prepared for the weather.
Bathroom: There was a port-a-potty once in the park, but now understand it has been replaced with a permanent structure.
Dogs: I’m neutral. Your well behaved dog is welcome to hike with me at the back of the group. It is YOUR responsibility to determine/confirm that dogs are permitted on a specific trail. If you plan to bring your dog, please note it in the comments such that people who prefer not to hike with dogs are aware.
I drive a dark blue/gray Toyota Sienna minivan. I wear a skirt.
