Cowboy Festival at Melody Movie Studio Ranch

Tons of movies were filmed at this Western set. Remember the TV show Deadwood? It was filmed here with other Westerns such as , The Lone Ranger, Wyatt Earp, Gunsmoke, Hopalong Cassidy, Annie Oakley, Rin Tin Tin, The Cisco Kid, Tall Tails, Last Man Standing, and Magnificent Seven.

THIS EVENT IS CROSS POSTED.

Please allow time to find parking, getting tickets (if you haven't already), and taking the shuttle/bus to the Ranch.

Please NOTE there will be 2 meeting times:

1)  We'll meet in front of the Museum, which is inside the park/Ranch, @11am.  We'll wait no more than 15 minutes for everyone.

2)  I will meet in front of the Museum, which is inside the park/Ranch, @2pm.  I will wait for no more than 15 minutes.  Then, we will rejoin the rest of the group.

The plan:

Everyone meet in front of the museum @11am.  We will be a large group (since this event is cross posted), so it will be hard not to miss us.

We'll tour the museum (free, with admission to the park).  Walk around the park and get some lunch.

Continue to explore the park.

I will then meet anyone coming @2pm (please see above).  We'll tour the museum briefly (if you wish), then join the rest of the group.

We will leave the festival around 6pm.

Tickets are $ 20, buy in advance on website.

http://cowboyfestival.org/tickets/(Can be bought there).

Bring $$ for food/souvenirs.

Of all the times I've been to this, it looked like only let you park in the big lot where the shuttle picks you up. That said, I really didn't try to find other parking. The lot with the shuttle was just fine with me.

    April 20, 2013

  • gerlie

You can buy tickets @the park. You can try to find parking, but be careful! I'm not familiar with the area...

Hi there! I haven't been coming to your events long enough to have made "buddies" to hang with. I've been to this event many times and really enjoy it, but don't want to find myself wandering around the whole day by my own self. Anyone have any ideas?

    April 11, 2013

    • gerlie

Hi Karen- Please see the updated information above. Don't worry about the "buddies." I'm sure most of the people here won't know anyone else. We will explore the festival as a group.

    • James S.

I'm still fairly new with the group, but found the members pretty friendly. We have a meeting time, location and host so I expect we'll at least start off hanging out with a lot of people from the group.

      April 11, 2013

  • gerlie

I've updated this meetup. Please note there will be TWO (2) meeting times.

If I am in town I do plan to go to this, the discount link seems like a great deal for presalers. No way will iI be early to this. So will the group be together later in the day? Lunch at 2pm or?

    April 7, 2013

    • gerlie

Lunch will probably be from 1-3p, depending on what everybody in the group would like to do. Feel free to check in that day (post a comment), and we'll keep everybody posted to where we are.

      April 8, 2013

    • Carey B.

Thanks gerlie. Just hope I can be back in calif in time

      April 8, 2013

  • Karen

Will the group be walking together? I'd like to know I have others to share/enjoy the festival with rather than ending up walking around by my ownself....

    April 8, 2013

    • Karen

Or at least some members of the group walking together.

      April 8, 2013

    • Carey B.

If I am there I will walk with you. I don't go on these to be solo either, more fun watching the gunfights and stunts together

The first year I went, I got there pretty early and there were so many cowboys wandering around by themselves. Lots of eye candy, that was for sure!

      April 7, 2013

  • Karen

I love the Cowboy Festival! Have been several times. I am looking forward to getting to know some of you.

    April 6, 2013

It looks like admission is $20. I found a discount though for $15 which will get you in both days. http://www.spreebird.com/deal/deal-santa-clarita-cowboy-festival-2013 Note that this "deal" expires in a few days.

    April 5, 2013

    • James S.

Just an FYI - I've never used Spreebird before. I did purchase the "voucher" just now but it won't actually be visible until the 10th.

      April 5, 2013

    • gerlie

Thanks, James! I'm going to get this deal as well. :)
