100 National Park Road, Hopkins, SC
This is one of the newest, established as a national park in Nov. 10, 2003, before it used to be a national monument. Some of the oldest, most majestic trees in SC, are in this park. People fought extremely hard to save this chunk of land from clear cutting. Let's go appreciate and explore one of our newest National Parks:

We can carpool. Meeting at McDonald's I-20 EXIT 22 at 8.15AM This is on Hwy 1 or Columbia Hwy, about 8 miles north of Aiken.
There are many different trails. We will decide on a trail once we get to the park but we will plan on at least a 2 mile hike with plenty of time to observe, explore and take pictures.
Please bring water, snacks, insect repellent, camera, binoculars, and money for lunch in case we decide to hunt for late lunch around Columbia. Entrance to the park is free, quite a great bargain!
