Hei alle/hi everyone, following a great catch up and chat with Anita, Jennifer, Francois and new-comer Mike, we've decided on a not-too-difficult route that should keep us all interested and engaged, with some good photo opportunities.
DNT mentioned that the walking tracks in the Nord- and Lillomarka are generally still gjørmete (a great Norwegian word meaning muddy/swampy/slushy - generally not pleasant), so we're keeping to the Østmarka for the time being.
Meet up at Mortensrud station by 11.00. There are metros (line 3) and buses (nr. 74) arriving at 11.46 and 11.01, so we'll be looking to leave by 11.10 latest.
From Mortensrud we'll walk east to the Østmarkskapellet, then head further into the forest, coming to the Elvåga lakes, (north and south) we'll follow the path between them, and travel north along the eastern side of Nord-Elvåga, eventually coming to Mariholtet. From Mariholtet we'll head west again, coming around the top of Nøklevann and exit to Ulsrud Metro (where we started from a couple of weeks ago). All up it should be around 13Km, depending on whether we take any Francois-style 'short' cuts!
At Østmarkskapellet and Mariholtet it should be possible to grab a hot coffee and a waffle/bun (for those so inclined), but you're also welcome to bring a packed lunch and a thermos if that's your style.
The longterm weather forecast for Sunday isn't overly warm, but they're also not predicting rain. General common sense applies to what you'll need. Warm clothes and layers, a decent jacket and sturdy shoes/boots, some snacks, a camera if you want, and a bit of cash or a card if you want to buy some food. Should be about 4 - 5 hours.
We're looking forward to catching you guys on Sunday!
