Outdoor Activity First Aid Course - 2 days

  • Feb 8, 2014 · 9:00 AM

• Do you love hiking and other outdoor activities?

• Do you carry a First Aid kit with you when go hiking but do not know how to use most of the contents?

• What would you do if faced with a First Aid emergency in the remote mountains where mountain Rescue could be several hours away and somebody's life depended on you?

If you go hiking enough, you are likely to be come across an accident or injury, either with yourself or somebody else and being in often hostile and extreme conditions and far away from help can make it much harder to deal with. The remoteness can mean that decisions that you make could literally be life or death for somebody or indeed yourself.

Our two day First Aid course not only provides you with the skills to deal with First Aid emergencies in remote areas, but also the knowledge of how to deal with the added combination of the elements and conditions when you’re far from help or assistance.

The course certificate will validate National Governing Body Awards such as Mountain Leader Awards etc and is valid for 3 years from the date of issue

Our course is provided by a highly experienced First Aid instructor Allan. As well as a history of nearly 20 years in Mountain Rescue in Wales he is also an International Mountain leader who has lead expeditions to Everest, Kilimanjaro, Alaska, The High Arctic, South America, Borneo and other destinations. He is also a fully qualified First Aid instructor and provides a superb course tailored specifically towards hiking in remote areas providing you with appropriate knowledge and skills enabling the provision of effective first aid when you’re remote from help. Due to his background, he fully understands the issues, dilemmas and judgements required when dealing with incidents in potentially hostile environments.  He has been delivering this course regularly for over 10 years and delivers the course in a professional, easy to understand, enjoyable format designed to maximise what you learn and using his previous experience as a teacher.

Really good course, thank you Alan. I have attended a number of first aid course in the past and this gave me a great more knowledge about the issues of first aid in the hills and mountains as well as reminding me of the importance of updating skills.

I think that all Outdooraholics should be doing this course and navigation too and not always leaving it to others...... ha ha ....no Graham's not paying me to say that!..... Do it!

Thanks to Graham and Allan. A fantastic group of folk, with lots of laughs, great hospitality (Thanks Danny) and of course very informative. It is great to refresh and further advance my first aid knowledge. A recommended course for anyone who loves getting outdoors, not just for hike leaders - you never know when you may need it. Hoping I will not need to make extensive use of this newly gained knowledge but it has given me the added confidence, if I have to.

Was thrilled to learn so much about first aid in the great outdoors. The course was informative, interactive and some great practical exercises where we put what we learned into action. Great group of people who all came together to prepare and equip ours for the mountain. Thank you Allan for a great 2 days and Graham for putting together for us. Tracie x

I signed up for the course as I missed the first aid training at work and thought it will be great, wih my new found outdoor passion, this will enable me to take care of myself and held others outside. I have come away with more than I expected. Thank you Allan for the outstanding sections (even by Ofsted standards: rich content, very well planned, fun, engaging with a variety of group activities to cater for all types of learners and all learners have met the learning objects...so I even picked up tips for my day job. ) Sorry Andy, I can't be helped and thank you Tracie for the delicious homemade cake and Danny for the lovely hospitality! Had a great weekend learning and meeting wonderful people!
