I run 3 private Over-40 "SoccerDads scrimmages:
Contact BenButler_"AT"_gmail.com for info and to make sure there is a guest spot that week.
Tuesdays 7-9 PM is "intermediate" level Over-35.
Wednesdays 7-9 PM is "intermediate and advanced" level Over-45 - 50.
$95 for 9 weeks, both are at Soccedome 2, BWI area / Harmans, MD.
Winter rate can sometimes go up to $105 for 9 weeks to make up for the more
expensive field rental rate (November thru early March only).
http://www.soccerdome.com/ for directions.
We play on the largest field, 170 foot long, so there is plenty of play and space. Summer time is the time to get in, because spots are rare in the winter. People miss more in the summer too, so there are a few less subs, so more playing time. Winter time there are more people showing up regularly, so we have subs on the sideline (or a waiting team to go in).
We dont keep score, we make teams on the fly using pinnies, mix the teams up throughout the night, and generally try to have fun with a skilled game of soccer with little to NO contact. 2 or 3 teams of six v six play in a round robin fashion, every 10 minutes for 2 hours. 20 mins on, 10 mins off.
Fouling or playing aggressively will quickly get you replaced / dismissed.
Wednesday: Players at the intermediate level welcome, including guys that haven't played in a few years but that used to have skill, and just need fitness and a few weeks to get their touch & finesse back. (all over 45, most 45 -50). You need to have decent ball control skills, but aren't expected to be a speed demon. Most guys are intermediate, with 2-3 advanced, and 2 -3 a little bit 'before' intermediate, (mostly keepers that come out to play the field for a little bit but are primarily goalies. The rest of the time they play lots of goalie, which most of us hate to do (we take 5 minute turns ).
Tuesdays: Intermediate/Advanced . Ex-college from 15-20 years ago or Div 1, or 2 league players that are coming back after a multi-year break very welcome. This scrimmage has few beginners and a most intermediate / Advanced , and a few are advanced, good solid, fast quality players, (all over 35).
Both are supposed to be a **easy-going**, low stress, low impact, low contact, guy's scrimmages.
We would rather have guys with decent skill and speed
that can laugh and joke around, versus better skilled players
that get hot and start complaining about everything. This is not a league.
Unfortunately, this is **Not** for guys who have never seen or touched a ball in their life, or only have a year or two of playing.
We want guys that have been playing a long time, but are getting a little older and tired of butting heads with much younger guys in open leagues, and would prefer to play with guys their age and speed, and who will think twice before committing to a crunching tackle.
We prefer guys at 45, or very close to 45 (.. 40 +), and over. Please note this is very popular, particularly in the winter. Depending on time of year, there is usually a wait list, but I try to get everyone in to try it quickly. Guests come on a daily basis $15 and after trying it once or twice usually want a permanent spot. My assistant and I don't cut anyone unless they play aggressively, foul too much, or complain/argue too much. This is subjective, so we usually bounce it off some of the regulars who have been with the program for years (we don't make too many decisions in a vacuum), and clearly recognize everyone can get worked up from time to time and /or have a bad night, including the organizers!

I also organize an
Over 45 SoccerDads scrimmage on Sunday Mornings 10am - 1
(often 10 -1 during the summer). Same Idea, same pricing, same format but at SoccerDome1, Jessup. Contact BenButler _AT_ gmail.com for info. "intermediate and advanced"
-----------------------------
Remember to keep the contact to a minimum, and if you do make contact with someone, by all means, don't argue about it. In this format, conceding a foul (whether it was a foul or not) means nothing,it wont lead to a scoring opportunity, so it doesn't matter, just give it. Fouls are usually just a restart as an indirect. Bring a positive attitude. Constructive comments only.
