Tubing and All-you-can-eat afterwards

This is so much fun, it's going to be an annual event. Take a leisurely tube-ride on the Shenandoah for 4-5 hours and then participate in an all-you-can-eat steak and chicken dinner afterwards.  How cool is that?  Hit the water at 11AM and tube for 4-5 hours-this particular run is deep water with a current, but no rapids, and passes a swimming hole and beach along the way. And you can drop into the water at any point along the way. This is a relaxing, non-strenuous, social activity.

The food is excellent and it's definitely all-you-can-eat, with huge steaks and chicken. They don't give you two bites and expect you to keep coming back.

We meet at the reservation center and take a bus to the water. If you want to be with the group, you need to make sure you get on that bus. If you are late, you will be put on later bus and will have to catch up on the water.

Also, at the end of the trip are great bath houses with hot showers.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A RECOGNIZABLE MAIN PROFILE PHOTO TO ATTEND.

Info as to what to bring, etc.:

Bring a snack/drinks to take on the water if you think you'll get hungry. You can get little inner tubes to float a coolor on and we usually have a few who get those. Some people go in together and get one for several people. They're about $6.

You will bring a towel and change of clothes, which will be left with the vehicles. There are showers when we get back.

Wear water shoes of some sort/old sneaks that can get wet-no flip flops. Obviously, wear a bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, etc. and wear/bring along plenty of sunscreen (waterproof). I cannot express "waterproof" enough.

For the most part, everyone will be going by way of Gainesville and out 66.  For any who want to carpool, we will meet at the shopping center that has the IHop, Ruby Tuesday and Target. We will park by the Ruby Tuesday (on the Target side).  It's about 1.5 hours from there so we need to LEAVE there before 9AM.  So plan to be there about 8:30.  Please update your RSVP to say if you want to join the carpool.  Carpooling info/Link to the shopping center: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ruby-tuesday-gainesville-2

For those who are running late or need directions, call the outfitter directly.  They will be much better with directions and you can make arrangements to take another bus with them.  My phone will not be going with me, so at some point I will be out of touch and they will be your only point of contact.

What a glorious day. Loved our flotilla and the whole trip. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. The company, as always, was awesome. Great food and entertainment. I have to say, I liked the song the guy wrote for his dog. What a hoot!!

I'll try and meet in Gainsville, since it is the halfway point from Baltimore

Hey all, please again note the rendezvous place in Gainesville for all who would like to carpool. There is a link to the shopping center above. We will LEAVE there about 8:30. If you miss us, you'll have to drive yourselves. Also, again, once we get there, I am leaving my phone in the car, so if you have any problems, call the outfitter directly. Numbers are above and it would be wise to put one in your phone just in case. My # is[masked] until about 10am. Don't forget good water shoes or old sneakers. You cannot go barefoot. We leave most everything in the cars. And there should be showers afterward unless, like last year, all the power was out from the storm. Also with all the rain we've had, the water should be nice and high so we won't be dragging our butts on the rocks. You may bring snacks and drinks with you, but put them in something waterproof.
    See y'all there.

      June 13, 2013

    • Gail B.

Yes, they will take keys and keep them for us.
