    Hi Jim,
I was there but evidently you missed me. I was surprised to find out that unlike at most swing dances, no one provided instruction on the basic steps for those who have never done this before. Does anyone ever do that at these events? Thanks.

I actually had danced but had to leave early. What I mean is that although they call out the names of the steps, if I hadn't had someone kind enough to explain what some of those names referred to, I would have not had any idea what they were, i.e.: "gypsy your partner." Perhaps if you or someone else who has done this for years would offer a 30-minute introductory to what some of these steps are, that would be really appreciated.

Anne the best way to learn English Country Dancing is by dancing that is how everyone on the dance floor last night learned. The more you come the more familiar you will be with the steps. I hope you come back and dance. If you have questions please feel free to ask someone everyone is pretty friendly and helpful.
