Fredericksburg Area Annual Wine Festival

This is the 22nd birthday for The Fredericksburg Wine Festival which is celebrating it’s 6th year of being located on the beautiful banks of the Rappahannock River adjacent to downtown Olde Towne Fredericksburg.  Each year the festival is made up of the six ownership wineries and two guest wineries which offer over 100 varieties of Virginia’s award winning wines for you to sample and purchase.  Since wine does not suit everyone’s palate, the festival also offers a beer garden with some of Blue and Gray Brewery’s fine local beer and ales.

As you leisurely roam the river bank we offer staple food vendors and fun food concessionaires along with 30 plus artisans and crafters.  Entertainment exists for all ages to include the barrel train, face painting, live music and more.  You are more than welcome to purchase your bottle of wine, something to snack on and cop a squat on a straw bale, your lawn chair or blanket under the majestic trees that border the Rappahannock River.

The Festival is also on Saturday from 11Am-5PM for any who would prefer to go then.

There was no rain, a little cool but not cold, but the wine vendors offered you so much more variety that all you could do was have fun. With such a variety of vendors, and positive people working for them, along with music from the days, this made it so much more fun! I'm glad I went! Sorry for those who were not able to make it.

It was a nice, somewhat cold and damp but didn't hamper our spirits. Kudos to Ailene for stepping up to the plate to host. Its unfortunate when folks don't let the host they are canceling as we were trying to keep an eye out for them.

Thanks Ailene. Actually, I guess I was wondering more if there is an overflow field--more concerned in parking in lot of mud. Depends on which car I drive. Thanks again

    Hi Annie,
Old Mill Park has ample parking. I do not remember if there was a fee for parking last year and there is no mention of it on their website. I want to say there was none.

They ask for a $1 donation to help the volunteers. But no one was out to do the high pressure asking yesterday

I know weather is a question for Sunday? How many are still planning on attending even if it drizzles?

Ailene, I am watching the weather but still planning to join at this point. Do you know anything about the parking?

It looks like the rain will stop around 11 and won't pick up again till later this afternoon after 3. Hopefully longer. The weather man has been wrong before. The good thing is the lines should be short for tastings and more opportunities to see all the vendors! Bring a poncho and a jacket just in case! If you're not going, PLEASE change your response to NO so others won't anticipate a big turnout. Thanks.

Thank you. If you could just be a contact for people who want to find each other, that would probably do it. You can just post your phone # the day before so they can call you if they can't find you. Anything else you feel like doing is up to you.

Sounds great Gail. I'll post my number and where we can meet so we don't feel "alone". Enjoy your trip!

Last call guys for a host. Somebody needs to take the helm or everybody will be on their own, which works too. After Tuesday, I will be out of touch, so you guys can figure it out.

Hey everybody, I am going to be in CA this weekend. Still need a host for this. If no one volunteers, I'll either have to cancel it or just leave you guys to manage on your own.
