Too Many Daves at Sully's

Join us for an evening of dancing to R&B, Soul and Rock-n-Roll with the 11-man brass and vocals of Too Many Dave's.

TMD's website states: TMD performs a mix of recognizable covers and original music covering R&B, Soul, Pop, Funk, and Rock-n-Roll styles. The band "Too Many Daves and the Brass Soulution", or TMD for short, was originally formed with four members named 'Dave'. Now, they are a group of eleven (yes! 11) R&B'ers that have kept their fans in Washington, Baltimore, and Annapolis partying since 1992.

There's an $8 (or maybe $10) admission fee at the door. Any who are interested in having dinner beforehand, please note it in the comment on your RSVP-not in the main comments.

And for those who had Valentine's Day on your calendars, it fell through, unfortunately.

Yes, a big "thank you" to Gail! And I thought that the large crowd added to the fun. I was dancing most of the night and there was never a problem getting out there and "ripping up the carpet".

Agree. It was so crowded and we couldn't really mingle with people. We listened to a few songs and left.

At first, I thought I walked into a funeral parlor, people just sitting quietly and watching the band, but as the night went on it became more fun. Great band with all those horns playing, reminded me of high school days playing trumpet in the stage band.

That was fun - great to see you all! I think we could do some remodeling to expand the dance floor - any architects/builders in the group?

Excellent, although way more crowded than usual. Always a great band to dance to, and fun people to dance with. Thanks again to Gail for organizing both the delicious dinner and our space at Sullys!

Thai Basil 14511 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Chantilly, VA 20151 Phone:(703)[masked] See you there at 7!

    January 26, 2013

    • Gail B.

I made reservations for 20 at 7, but I only see about a dozen who came back and said they wanted Thai or one of the other than Sully's restaurants. We can't have 30 or 40 people show up there unannounced, so please amend your RSVP to state if you want to come for Thai so I can keep the restaurant informed as to what to expect. DO NOT COME IF YOU DON'T TELL US IN ADVANCE.

      January 26, 2013

    • Barbara

I am planning to join people at Thai Basil

    @ Kim .. suggestions?
@Gail .. Would eating somewhere else cause problems in getting our group together @ Sully's for TMD after dinner?

I've eaten at the Thai place once and it was good. Just wanted you all to know there are options other than Sully's. ;-)

      January 25, 2013

  • Gail B.

One more update: Sullys has their School of Rock before TMDs show and they will be in attendance until probably close to 8:00, so I strongly recommend not arriving at Sullys before that. There will be tons of kids and their parents running all over the place until then.

    January 25, 2013

  • Gail B.

Reservation update: There are reservations already for 80 people-not including us. They are going to make the pool tables into dining tables for us and give us the lounge area in front of the smaller bar area. This is to the left off the street as you are facing the stage and there are couches and a couple of tables there. So it is going to be REALLY crowded what with us and all the rest of the folks who will be there. It will be interesting. Please update your dinner preference so we know where to make reservations and for how many. Plan around 7-7:30 for dinner at any of the other venues. I would not plan to eat at Sullys if you actually ever want to get food. Getting drinks will be enough of a feat.

Would like to eat at any of those- My order of preference would be Thai, Indian and Mexican. Not that I don't love Mexican.

    January 25, 2013

    • Gail B.

Okay all. Please change your RSVP comments and add which of the restaurants you want to go to for dinner-Thai, Mexican, Indian or Sullys. We'll make reservations tomorrow for as many as have posted their preference.

If not eating dinner, what time should we plan on attending? How do we find the group?

    January 24, 2013

    • Gail B.

You can arrive any time. The band starts around 9-9:30. As for finding us, we'll be everywhere.

The Thai, Mexican and Indian places right there are very good. I would be love to meet people at any one of them for dinner before the band starts.

There are several restaurants in the same shopping center as Sully's. You don't have to settle for mediocre food and even worse service. ;-)

What time are people arriving for dinner?

    January 22, 2013

    • Gail B.

People normally start arriving for dinner around 7, but they serve all night, so it really doesn't matter. As Alan said, service is mediocre at best, even though they know our group and know we're coming. It often takes hours to get food, so getting there early will cut way down on that. In the future we might meet elsewhere for dinner.

I plan to get there around 7:30 for dinner. Please know that the food and service at Sullys is very mediocre at best. The service is extremely slow even though they know a large group will be there for dinner and the food is not very good, but it's convenient so I will plan on being there around 7:30. I will have on a bright multi-colored sweater so people can find me. Alan
