Folks - Gail is absolutely in the right here, and this requirement is mandatory for our Meetup group due to several reasons, notably your own personal safety and our own sense of community. Indeed, most of the larger Meetup groups have the exact requirement for their members. If you would like more of an explanation, here it is, taken from our Meetup site:

Hey all. In case you haven't come up against it yet, we now require a close up/head shot with no hats or sunglasses or other people or animals in the picture. It's been posted in most of the events and many of you have been personally asked, some more than once, to change your photo. It would really be appreciated if you guys could help out here and save us/me in particular, from having to harass hundreds of you who have been around a while, to update the pics. Once you've been asked, if you continue to post a photo we can't use to recognize you, we will just remove you from events. If in doubt, ask. Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation.
And guys, I don't want to hear one comment from anyone complaining about this. Do it at your peril.
