Columbus Grill is proud to host a South American Wine Dinner on Friday Evening, July 29th, at 8:00 p.m.
Authentic South American Wines from Uraguay, Chile, Brazil and Argentina, will be paired with foods from each country . AND ... there will be South American entertainment to top-off the evening!!! (Samba dancing and a South American Drummer)
The evening will consist of Four Courses and Four Different Types of Wine. Salad & Bread Appetizer, Two Main Courses, and Dessert will be served. This Sit-Down "Pairing" Dinner is an All-Inclusive Fixed-Price Event, and the cost of $68.25 includes all of the Food and Wine (described below) that will be served to you, along with the tax, gratuity and entertainment.
Country (and Region) Represented: Argentina, Salta
Appetizer/Salad: Ensalada de Palmitos de Primavera served with Argentine Chimichurri Bread: (A spicy bread with lots of herbs and tons of flavor)
Wine: Michael Torino (Cuma) Torrontes (White)
Tasting Notes: Dry with medium plus acidity, medium body, crisp on palate with notes of tropical fruits like melange of lemon, cantaloupe, grapefruit, pineapple, hint of banana, rose petal and black pepper.
Country (and Region) Represented: Chile, Coquimbo
Main Course: Pollo Arvejado (Chicken stewed with peas and carrots in white wine and chicken broth and served with potatoes.
Wine: Falernia Pedro Zimenez (White)
Tasting Notes: Riesling like notes of petrol and citrus. Simple and refresing summer sipper. Great acidity. Melon on the mid palate with medium finish. Good body.
Country (and Region) Represented: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul
Main Course: Feijoada - Brazilian black beans with smoked meats served with Farofa (toasted casava flower fried in butter) . Picanha (tri-tip meat roasted over an open flame) and served with brazilian rice.
Wine: Rio Sol (Red)
Tasting Notes: In the glass, purple colouration, with edges tending to ruby, with little transparency and good training of tears. Great red fruit aromas and very discreet wood, giving the wine elegance, without hype "vanillic".
Country Represented: Uruguay, Uruaguay
Dessert: Gingerbread Roulade with Dulce de leche cream filling
Wine: Las Brujas (Red)
Tasting Notes: Pretty big aroma with dark fruit and oak. A tense taste with small tannines that make it fresh. Charasteristically, raspberry aromas, a fair amount of astringency.
