Hike to Poo Poo Point via the Chirico Trail

This is a short and fun hike, approximately 3.4 miles round trip, 1650 feet of elevation gain, with some switch backs. At Poo Poo Point watch paragliders and hang gliders launch their craft and soar to the landing zone close to the parking lot at the trailhead. Enjoy the expansive views at the top.

Carpoolers meet at the Eastgate Park & Ride. Parking can be limited at the trailhead parking lot on weekends. Parking is free and the Discover Pass is not required.

Possible options include packing a lunch to the top and stay and watch the paragliders & hang gliders; or continue hiking on other trails that intersect at Poo Poo Point.

So standing right there, at the trailhead, in fair weather, waiting, were two magnificent, brilliant, delightful, nice, handsome, chunks of manhood (... no surprise, exactly the type who go hiking). And Hiker Aaron said to Leader Bob, "Where are the five women and one other dude who signed up for this hike?" And Leader Bob said, "I dunno." And Hiker Aaron, who happened to still have a sea-kayak on his vehicle from a delightful paddle the previous evening, said, "Sheesh, I chose this festive social event over a festive Lake Union Cleanup paddle event with a bunch of my kayaking buds." And Leader Bob said, "Please feel free to head off to that." (continued next frame)

And Paddler Aaron, with a bit of apology, took Leader Bob up on his offer, while Leader Bob noticed all the magnificent, brilliant, delightful, nice, gorgeous chunks of womanhood headed off on the hike (... no surprise, exactly the type who go hiking), and decided to head on up the trail. And it's hard to not imagine a delightful guy like Leader Bob not making a lot of delightful friends on the hike and having a great time, which we can all assume he did (as did Paddler Aaron at the Lake Union event). And we'll try it again another time, with clear instructions, 'cause we all know that this meetup is chock full of magnificent, brilliant, delightful, nice people, and two out of eight showing up at a trailhead for a festive social hike was an aberration. And in the meantime, thanks to Leader Bob for arranging and posting this festive hiking event.

I was at the park and ride attendance time but it didn't occur to me to go the top of the parking structure. Sorry I missed you!

Let's meet on the eastside, top deck of the parking structure, near the overpass, in the back. Look for a red Volkswagen Passat Station wagon.

I did this hike last week. It was great. The hang gliders didn't fly but hopefully they will next week.

Lucy, since we live close to each other, we can carpool perhaps?

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
