Oxford Escapees – Enjoy our Free Festive Steps Walk with mince pies/mulled wine

Oxford Escapes – Enjoy our Free Festive Steps Walk & short Introductory walk with your new group  (Postponed from Sunday 23rd December)

Are you seeking a peaceful Oxford Escape before the hectic hustle and bustle of Christmas? Then do join us on this 6 mile day walk where along the way we will enjoy complimentary hot mulled wine and mince pies.

No pre-xmas stress for us it’s off to Wendover Woods and canal we merrily go! A 6 mile walk with a stop or two to warm ourselves up and enjoy a glass of hot mulled wine and mince pies where we will be rewarded by glorious views across the Vale of Aylesbury on what we hope will be a sparkling clear winter’s day. After the walk we will visit a local pub.

On this walk we will enjoy a long steady climb through the glorious Wendover Woods to the highest point of the Chilterns. Our exertions will be rewarded by great views and the return leg is beside the Wendover arm of the Grand Union Canal. This has been closed for over a century but still carries water. Shaded by trees, it is rich in all sorts of waterfowl and some have even caught sight of the blue flash of a kingfisher.

The mulled wine and mince pies are is kindly sponsored by www.walkfreebreakfree.co.uk

On this introductory walk we can offer free transport by minibus with pickup at one of Oxford's Park & Rides (to be confirmed)  or if you wish to travel independently the starting point is Wendover Railway Station or Wendover Town Centre car park.

I look forward to seeing a number of you on our Festive Steps walk.

Our Oxford Escape day outs are dedicated to get you to places new

for discovery and exploration, places that touch the senses – do join us today if you can.

    Hi!
Was wondering, if this walk was still going to happen, what with the weather forecast.
As I planning on catching the 8:55 train from Banbury, calling it off at short notice will not be a help to me.
