Sponsored Walk through the back door into Blenheim Palace, Sunday, 23rd September 2012, 6.5 miles - Starting at 12.00 noon. A Circular Walk from The Green in Combe around Blenheim Park, Woodstock. This walk passes through Combe and into Blenheim Palace, which marks the site of the original Royal Manor House of Woodstock. In 1704 John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, defeated the French at the Battle of Blenheim. In recognition of his military feat, Queen Anne presented the Duke with the royal manor and funds to build a monumental house. The house was completed by the early 1730’s. It has been described as the largest house in England, with beautiful grounds. During the walk we usually stop off at The White House in Bladon for refreshments and a rest. There will be plenty of free parking around the village green. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on leads. For a sponsorship form please Contact Nicky Clargo on 01865 263733 or Email: nicky.clargo@oxfordshire-mind.org.uk
