Hi Rebecca, you are welcome to try out my tour any time. As you know already, I make a very large effort and volunteer a lot of my time to supporting the aims of groups like this one. I make a very modest incomne as it is extremely difficult to make a living from running tours of Oxford (thanks largely to the monopoly interest which runs the visitor centre in the ways it does, which tries to squash competition and simply sells its own tour). So next time, please can you refer people wanting a sightseeing Oxford tour, to call me up and I can offer tours.
P.S. Just so you know, the visitor centre is not (as many people mistakenly believe) a public service which offers impartial advice on sightseeing. Rather, it is a £1,000,000+ business run by 'Visit Oxfordshire Ltd.', with a vested interest in selling its own tours and discriminating against the very businesses (that is tour companies like my own which pay it £400 upwards p.a.) which it is supposed to be actually representing. In fact, the MP Andrew Smith and the Local Government Ombudsman agency have been asking the visitor centre to explain why they offer such a poor service of only marketing and selling their own so-called 'Official tour'- unless you know to ask for other tour operators by name.

Hey, hi everyone, as you may know besides offering my freetime to contribute to international exchange in Oxford, I also try to make a living by offering insightful tours of Oxford.
My business called 'I Love Oxford Tour' offers tours nearly every day in English but we also have trained guided who can offer tours in French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese...and in German with a fluent or native speaking guide. Most of the guides are Oxford students or graduates and many are also actors.
My tours ( I Love Oxford Tours) are more fun and are much, much better value for money for you since I offer two for one on our £8 tickets for pre bookings by meetup members.
Plus you'd be supporting a small business!
Hey, I also offer tours of Oxford in German with a German speaking guide. My tours ( I Love Oxford Tours) are more fun, much better value for money (two for one on £8 tickets for pre bookings by meetup members) & you'd be supporting a small business!
regrettably, I am away.

I would like to attend but will have my young granddaughter with me that day! I'm guessing that the tour wouldn't be appropriate for a youngster in a lunchtime!?

Hi Loraine, I've never done one of these tours before so I can't advise. However, the website that I linked to in the description does offer tickets for children so it's up to you. If I don't see you this time around, I look forward to meeting you at another Meetup!
I would definitely like to meet a German speaking group as my German is becoming extremely rusty! However I don't think I will benefit from the tour this time as my concentration will probably be on the granddaughter!
I've just bought my ticket :)
An informal meetup for German speakers, people learning German and those interested in German culture to meet new people, practise German and English, have a drink and put the world to rights!
