Newbury Racecourse are showcasing 'New To Racing' with a day devoted to new racegoers, with masterclasses, tutorials, interactive entertainment and activities in addition to the 7 great quality races, kicking off the Flat season.
The day sees the re-launch of the successful Inside Track programme and the first outing of its show stand, an information point for anyone with any questions or queries and the hub of the day’s activities.

12.20 - Behind the Scenes Tour – giving an insight into the life of a jockey, visiting the Weighing Room and Judge’s Box
12.45 & 2.25 – Saddling Box/ Pre-Parade Ring Masteclasses – explaining everything you need to know to pick a winner
1.30, 2.00 & 3.10 – Trips to the race start – a rare chance to witness the drama of a race start up close
All trips and tours are on a first come first served basis and meet at the Inside Track show stand
Racegoers can pick up a free Inside Track guide to the races from the new show stand and watch some helpful new to racing videos.
The interactive Jockey Zone is the place to really get to know what being a jockey is all about:
Throughout the day, racegoers will get the chance to try our racing simulators, complete with real racing footage – to feel the excitement of a race.

1.30 – Ride a race against a jockey – talking racegoers through a race on a racing simulator
Our friendly bookmakers will be giving ‘How To Bet’ demonstrations, helping new racegoers through the nitty gritty of betting at the races and even giving some tips.
Betting demonstrations will take place in both the Grandstand and Premier Enclosures, shortly before race times
Viewing: The Grandstand Enclosure is located in front of the final furlong and has excellent views of the racing and access to the Parade Ring and Winner's Enclosure.
Facilities: The Grandstand has a range of food and drink outlets on the Ground Floor including The Coffee Yard which sells fresh coffee, teas, hot chocolate & soft drinks and freshly prepared sandwiches, wraps and cakes. The main bar area is on the First Floor and the popular Racegoers Restaurant is on the Second Floor. There are also numerous food outlets outside along with the superb Fish & Chip Shop next to the Copper King Lawn.
Please note that food and drink is not permitted into either the Premier or Grandstand enclosures, however you may picnic by your car.
Dress Code: Racegoers are asked to dress smartly. Denim, T-shirts and smart shorts are acceptable, but no bare tops, vests or tracksuits please.
