Monthly pub social and walk too - The Plough, Wolvercote, Oxford

A chance for new and old members to get together to discuss and suggest past and new future events.

We're making the most of the summer this year so taking in a short walk too and sit outside enjoying the garden - ie Port Meadow too...

EARLY WALK?
If you'd like to join me for a walk around the meadow please meet at the pub front for 6.15pm start and will be 1 hour 15 mins or so, we'll be back approx 7.30 pm. Hopefully will have worked up an appetite for dinner!

The Plough is a family run business serving all types of people with its casual dining in or out, plus the more formal stable restaurant with prices and quality hard to beat in Oxford.

New to the pub is our outside decking areas with heating & lighting and soon to be built the "Toby Wain end" outside the restaurant area.

A fine selection of ales, lagers and the old fashioned style make the Plough a worthwhile visit when in Oxford.

We welcome all families and have disabled access and facilities. We can also cater for parties and funerals in our restaurant and library bar.

To quote Colin Dexter "What a great pub to have a beer in"

Car parking is available nearby and the bus no 6 runs from Oxford stopping nearby too.

Please put on your RSVP if you'd like to join for a walk, thanks.

Blimey! Sat in the pub last night, blissfully unaware of the goings on in Woolwich, East London! My sincerest condolencies to the friends & family of the murdered soldier! All that aside, another top quality night out! A good ol' mooch round Port Meadow, followed by a lovely dinner, with company to match! Cheers Jo! :-)

Hi everyone. I'm going to be walking along the canal, to meet Jo & everyone else, this Wednesday. I thought a good place to start would be the bridge over the canal in Hythe Bridge St. (Accross the road from 'The Oxford Retreat'). It'd take the best part of an hour, at a steady stroll, so would need to leave at 5:15 ish PM. Soon after would be OK, if you don't finish work, or can't be there in time. The time's flexi, just don't want it to turn out into a yomp! Reply to this thread if you'd like to join me, otherwise, i'll just have to fend the geese off on my own!

Walkies! Hi Jo, the map doesn't work... The picture LOOKS like a pub i noticed a while back, near the canal. Can you carry on, past the pub, to the Wolvercote Road? I THINK i'm thinking of the right pub? I was going to suggest it as a place to meet.

Hi John, the address and map appears to be correct when I click on it ? The pin is exactly on the pub, which is on Wolvercote Rd.

Cheers Jo... Sue pointed out the pub, as we passed on the train, on the way home Sunday. I know the Wolvercote Road & my suspitions were right, as to the pub in question... I think the problem with the maps are with these computers in the local library... Map DNW for this Sunday's walk at Uffington as well... Sometimes you just get the West Coast of America, (on a good day) sometimes the page just disappears (as if you've minimised it) and today i'm getting an empty box, with that little logo in the top left corner... Hee hee hee...
