A walk crammed full of beauty and interest, beginning at Bourton-on-the-Water and visiting Lower Slaughter, both places drawing many visitors all through the year.
Bourton-on-the-Water has a number of speciality shops of quality, inviting cafes and restaurants and several visitor centres such as Birdland, the Motor Museum, a perfumery and a model village, but the main attraction is its character and beauty, with wonderful Cotswold buildings lining the streets and straddling the flowing
water running through its centre.
Lower Slaughter has an appeal all of its own, the same River Windrush flowing past lovely stone cottages and houses of exquisite charm and where the old mill in its picturesque setting now houses a museum. The superb St Mary's Church welcomes 10,000 visitors a year and the huge manor dovecote is one of the largest in England.
RSVP's open at 6PM on Sunday 9th June.
We meet in the large car park on Station Road, situated behind the Texaco Garage. This is a Pay and Display so please bring plenty of change. Cotswold District council have not published charges for this location but their other car park in the same village is £3 for 3 hours and £3.90 for 5 hours. This car park may be more expensive.
We start the walk at 10AM sharp. (Please ensure you're at the start point at least 10 mins beforehand).
The area is shown better in the Map link

We like to reduce the impact on the areas we visit and its sometimes difficult to find places with adequate parking, so we encourage lift shares with our regular drivers.
If you need a lift, please post below indicating that you'd like a lift and from which general part of Oxford and surrounding villages you would like to get picked up. There is sometimes a better chance of being picked up from one of the Park & Rides as people use the ring road en-route. There are some guidance notes on our message boards here.
Please ask for a lift ASAP even if your on the waiting list when you do so as the list is constantly changing.
We would welcome a donation of around £1 towards ongoing overhead costs associated with the Meetup service and ancillary costs.
We would be grateful if this was done before the start of the walk.
For new members or walkers, please read the Walkers Guide thread in the forum.
