Tackley Circular walk 7 Miles

A lovely country walk from Tackley, circling a particularly beautiful area surrounding this picturesque village. On footpaths and bridleways and country lanes, woodland is a predominant feature, either in the distance or on the actual route, the magical atmosphere reminiscent of fairy stories, the eerie stillness, a source of peace and quietness. Mature trees spread their branches to give shelter or shade on much of this walk, which is a delight from beginning to end. The charming Tackley Village Green is a perfect setting, with large houses and small cottages of local stone scattered round it, making an appealing picture-book scene. Sunday morning walk.

Fascinating Fact....This delightful walk was last walked by the group in January 2011 !

good walk and no rain - thanks for organising it, Jo. Enjoyed lunch afterwards even if the pub could do with some lessons in organisation and best use of staff. Looking forward to Wednesday

It didn't rain!! yay....This walk hasnt been done for some time as some paths were overgrown and missed one path... but 5 mins later back on track. Some nice rural views of the countryside and walked through Tackley - shame the pub wasn't open for a pitstop!Good to see some new faces with some regulars, hope to see you again. Sorry it was a bit messy at the pub regarding ordering - maybe stick to paying at the end next time. Big thanks Alan for your OS skills.

I'd like to do the walk, but I don't have a car and there is no bus from Oxford arriving at Tackley in time.
Could somebody give me a lift, please? That would be very nice! I'd share the cost.
I live near Lake street, but I can join somebody in City Centre.
I'd like to have lunch with the group if possible.

God wat is it with technology! Saw Dan was still having a problem with lifts so I try & come 2 the rescue-then I get a post minutes LATER saying he's got a lift now! :S

    • Dan H.

Apologies for confusion, Lorraine. I am grateful you tried to find a solution, although we had not arranged anything at all. Anyway, thank you for trying.

Peter - very kind offer and perhaps one I might take up at the next opportunity. Getting anywhere within Oxford for a lift is fine. Enjoy your walk and lunch, both!

      September 15, 2013

  • Jo H

So that's 12 for lunch, sorry Dan you are not included but if someone drops out you will be first reserve but you don't have a guaranteed lift at present...OX3 isnt directly on the way if someone drops out for lunch, offering to go to Kidlington would help for a pick up point for Lorraine I imagine.

Don't worry Lorraine. (Thanks anyway). I've asked Andrew if he'd be prepared to wait for the replacement bus, for his walk from Hungerford, this Sunday. (There's engineering work on the line & the trains aren't running. His walk starts at 10:00, EXACTLY the same time as the bus is scheduled to arrive).
