Join OSW for Christmas Drinks at Far from the Madding Crowd Pub in Oxford

It's a chance for new members to meet the group, and for long term members to catch up. It's also a good chance to talk about events past and future and help plan new events.

From the outset, Far from the Madding Crowd was created to be a good old fashioned City Centre pub concentrating on serving an interesting selection of ales in the best possible condition.  Six real ales are available at any one time and these can change during the day.  Brakespeares bitter is served a house beer and 'The House Special' is an interesting ale at the price of £2.90.

A wine list offers a carefully selected choice of wines from around the world.

A variety of Pub food will be served until 8pm

CAMRA award
winning, independent, traditional British pub in the heart of Oxford

The pub is found about 50 yards down the alley that is accessed from Magdalen Street between the end of Debenham's on Magdalen Street and before reaching the Odeon cinema, or can be accessed from the same alley from the Gloucester Green end and runs between the back of The Red Lion beer garden and the White Rabbit pub car park.

The reserved area is usually to the Left of the main entrance to the left of the bar and toilets.

A busy good central Oxford pub, we had the upper lounge area to ourselves. Company, Service and Burgers were good. Worth trying again before the students are back. Angela

A bit dissappointed with the pub this visit, both food and drink. I wonder if they've under new management.

I like that pub, but the free wi-fi didn't work :)

Yeah, 'computer said NO'! I reckon it was where we were sat Beth. 'Move closer to the hub', it says on my FAQ thing, on my Hudl guide... Where's that? Heathrow? That's a hub!

Quirky, i think my first impression of 'Far From The Madding Crowd' would be. Still a good night out though, even if there were only a dozen or so of us. Thanks Ange! (Oohh, that programme on Radio 4... Money Box, with Paul Lewis... i remembered it on the train home)...

BRILLIANT! I was hoping there'd be a mid December pub thing... I was wondering if the quiz was it but obviously, it wasn't! :-) Not been to this pub before either, so that ALL adds to the fun... Finding the place!
