From the attractive and historical large village of Charlbury, this walk takes country lanes, bridleways and footpaths in the most beautiful of surrounds imaginable, to visit Finstock.
The route circles the Cornbury Estate, on part of The Oxfordshire Way, and on the edge of Wychwood Forest for some distance, returning to Charlbury via the wonderful Cornbury Park.
The woodland path through part of the Wychwood Forest is magical, with mature trees that give refuge to different bird species. Listen for the tap, tap of the woodpecker. Cornbury Park is gorgeous and spectacular with its wonderful array of majestic trees and the marvellous sight of the deer herd that roams freely. All too soon Charlbury is in view again, but there is much to tempt the visitor to stay longer, with the appeal of attractive Cotswold buildings, including several old pubs and inns inviting the weary traveller to rest awhile.
NOTE: RSVP's open at 6pm on 6th April.
We meet in the free Car Park that resides behind the Co-Op store in Charlbury.

If you need a lift, please post below indicating that you'd like a lift and from which general part of Oxford and surrounding villages you would like to get picked up. There is sometimes a better chance of being picked up from one of the Park & Rides as people use the ring road en-route. There are some guidance notes on our message boards here.
Please ask for a lift ASAP even if your on the waiting list when you do so as the list is constantly changing.
We would welcome a donation of around £1 towards ongoing overhead costs associated with the Meetup service and ancillary costs.
