N.B. Your profile will be deleted if you don't RSVP for events in over a month!

Hi everyone,

I have decided that as many people join OxfordNightsOut but then are either completely or mostly inactive, I will start deleting profile of anyone who doesn't RSVP at least once per month for scheduled events. That doesn't mean that you can't then rejoin and recreate your profile again. However, anyone who in each calendar month hasn't RSVPed in last 28 days for an event will then have their profile deleted.

Why?

There's no point in trying to make OxfordNightsOut succeed unless one commits to making the same effort I do, to RSVP and attend events. Events won't ever succeed unless enough people commit to take part. OxfordNightsOut isn't meant to be a facebook style community page nor a dating site. It's specifically meant to encourage singles to take part in local events and thereby meet new people.

I hope you will understand my reasons therefore for deleting any non active members.

Hi guys, thank you for all your comments, looking forward to tonight! As I haven't met most of you before I am hoping you will recognise me! Will stand at the end of the bar as it is quieter. Bring your friends and your dancing shoes and get ready for the disco :-). Just for info, the junction will be £5 entry.

Hi Lisa, I just left a message on discussions pages and here to advise everyone on here how to schedule events in such a way that everyone can receive an event invite. Basically, just click on <Our Calendar> on left hand side, select the date of event and then when message pops up to say, <lets schedule an event>, follow its instructions. Thanks for taking initiative to schedule and event folks and sounds like your first scheduled event was popular, so well done!!

I would like to come to some events, but most seem to be on a Sunday! I am also a single parent and often need to arrange sitters and as events are sometimes cancelled at the last minute and also seem to be charged in advance this is not convenient for me. Other groups i belong to do not work this way.

Please note many events on here and all of them in the first year, were free to rsvp for. However, far too many times, what happened was I would be sitting around by myself or with just a few other guys (only) for people who didn't show up. This site also costs money to run and promote and has run at a loss ever sib

...ever since it started. I schedule events only on basis that they will actually take place if you guys commit to rsvp in advance for them to happen and as suits my own freetime- which is not same as everyone else on here but the more people on here who can schedule events, the better for everyone. Therefore, please use initiative to post the kind of events yourselves too where and when and which you would like to attend. It's easy to schedule events here. Just click on calendar and select date then a message will show up to say, <Lets schedule an event>...

Yeah, Hi where is it? Also do you have to turn up that early?
    Thanks

please note any event which has poor rsvp's by the day before scheduled event, simply gets cancelled- so that might be why you could not find the event you mentioned?

I have joined this group with the hope of going out alongside of others on Saturday nights and now I seem to only get these notifications because I've rsvp'ed.. pointless nonsense! I should probably just mind my business on my own just like before! I will leave this comment for a short while to see if I get any significant feedback then I'll just leave as I've come. Cheers!

Hi Theo, I stick that message on to automatically appear each month about <please RSVP yes or no to an(y) event within 1 month> as we used to get a ton of people join the site yet then never rsvp to take part in any events. By promising that I will periodically delete anyone's profile who just sits on here and doesn't even rsvp no to any events, my aim is to ensure folks understand this is an events to meet up group and not just yet another (waste of time) dating site.

I haven't been able to get to events since the first one that I attended. I hope to get to an event soon because I did enjoy the group atmosphere. I cannot attend events on Sundays and many of the ones posted are on Sundays.

Hi Emma, If you would like to see more events on other week days or saturdays, then please consider scheduling an event on the website calendar to invite folks to.

Is this an actual event or just a notice about the group? If it is an event where is it?

    March 24, 2014

    • Alasdair

Hi Jo, This is not an event- just a notice and I set the website to send out this notice once a month as a reminder that there is no point in joining this group unless one is going to at least rsvp yes or no to scheduled events on here, at least once a month.
