PASSDC Monthly Chapter meeting

Our regular meeting! In addition to our featured speaker, we're looking forward to hearing from you about how best this user group can support professionals in the DC area. We'll also have food and raffle of a few things at the end!

**Announcing Office Hours **

Come buy a drink and participate in a SQL discussion group with Chris Bell and others.

We will head over to the Capital Grille after the meeting for about an hour of a casual open SQL discussion. The topic is not set, but feel free to bring any questions you have, or topics of interest.

Featured Presentation:

PowerShell: The Way of the DBA Dragon

Lars Rasmussen, DBA HealthEquity

In this introduction to PowerShell, attendees will learn how to start from scratch with PowerShell 3.0, use the pipeline, run T-SQL against multiple instances, use transcripts, and be shown martial arts usage of one of the SQLPSX cmdlets. Scripts will be provided.

About Lars:
Lars Rasmussen was born in Illinois, but considers Utah home. He does not play video games, is learning to camp and hike, and is happy to have shared the summit of Mt. Timpanogos with two of his sons. Lars' wife and four children help him smile and laugh, and the family dog is teaching him patience. Playing board games is one his favorite pastimes. He considers SQL Server, PowerShell, and CMD.EXE some of his dearest frenemies. Lars enjoys the company of SQL Server professionals and sysadmins - he used to be one of the latter, and is employed as a database administrator for HealthEquity.

PowerShell can and should be used with SQLServer even though we have so many other SSMS took available; no doubt the PS1s will be handy one of these days...
