PAVE Philly is a new chapter of the national group, PAVE: Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment. Nationally, PAVE shatters the silence of sexual violence through social, educational and legislative tactics. Its work has been featured in TIME magazine, and other major news outlets.
As PAVE's newest chapter, PAVE Philly will implement its principles by:
• Raising awareness about sexual and gender-based violence - its prevalence, social impact, and supporting cultural factors.
• Creating dialogues about sexual and gender-based violence through themed projects, survivors’ forums, roundtable discussions about local, national and international events, and educational conferences and workshops.
• Re-casting sexual violence as a human rights issue - not just a “women’s issue” - in which men are full stakeholders.
• Connecting local anti-sexual violence groups, and promoting their important work.
PLEASE NOTE: PAVE PHILLY IS NOT A SUPPORT GROUP. People who are interested in creating/implementing awareness-building workshops, conferences, and events are welcome to join. As a fledgling non-profit, PAVE Philly also seeks members with fundraising skills.
