Summer concert: Ziggy Marley
July 22, 2012 -
Presented by Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, with support from U.S. Bank and the Oregonian
In a city filled with musicians, activists, actors, artists, and humanitarians, what makes a person stand out? Try being all of those things and more, like Ziggy Marley. Marley, who has won five Grammys to boot, will be performing at the Oregon Zoo Sunday, July 22 as part of the summer concert series.
Ziggy Marley has established his presence on the public stage for more than a quarter-century and put out his latest album, Wild and Free, last year with powerful themes of challenging social injustice and the political weapons of ignorance and fear. “The thing that makes this new album special is that Ziggy has embraced the more traditional and familiar textures and rhythms of reggae, while further defining the unique artistic vision that sets him apart,” said producer Don Was.
