'Graph Cafe' - Modeling Hierarchies in Neo4j

Hi Graphistas!

We'll be having a fun-filled 'Graph Cafe' style meetup on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. It'll be a combination of listening, learning and hacking!

Huston will open up with a short overview of 'modeling hierarchies in Neo4j,' then Laurence Cook will spend 15 minutes discussing 'Labels, Properties, and Ontologies.'

We'll wrap up with some questions and some old-fashioned whiteboarding (to be done on paper)!!

Bring your graph projects and queries - let's learn together.

We hope to see y'all there!

I have posted an updated deck (same link). There are a few minor corrections and elaborations, the most notable being to the example mapping to Dublin Core (slide 6) regarding nodes and properties. For instance, content of a DC 'Subject' element may consist of key words to be expressed as nodes. Properties generally map to elements considered to be attributes in a standard ER model. However, within some property graph contexts, attributes (e.g., format, language, source, subject) may require expression as nodes, with their own relationships and properties. Something to consider and discuss in future meetings.

Oh and somehow the timing is off, the meetup states Thursday and the text states Tuesday.

Make sure to have paper table cloth to draw graphs. And perhaps put "Graph Café" in the meetup title.
