Quantified Self Show and Tell

  • August 15, 2012 · 6:00 PM

UPDATE -- we have a great program for our August meetup!

6:00 pm -- Get acquainted, networking

6:30 -- An Algorithmic Approach to Perfect Happiness: Using the SIMs as a cybernetic feedback loop to debug and optimize everyday life. Amber Case.

Amber is a cyborg anthropologist studying the interaction between humans and technology, and the founder of Geoloqi (geo-low-key), Inc. -- our venue host for the evening.

7:00 -- In the Beginning Was the Word: Thoughts on Quantified Speech, Todd Silverstein.

Todd is the founder and CEO of Vizify, another Portland startup.  Best way to see his bio is on the Vizify site.

7:30 -- Open discussion: Datastores, Dashboards, and Data-Viz for Quantified Selfers.  Some QSers will help lead off the discussion, but this will be an open roundtable, and we may tackle questions such as...

Where do you store your QS data?

Are you OK with having your data stored at your sensor vendor? Or do you want to you own and control it yourself?

How do you visualize it?  Seen/built any cool dashboards?

What projects are underway in these areas?

See you all there!

What an awesome creative, smart, and caring group of people. Really enjoyed the presentations. I am not a computer person so was a little lost with the discussion at the end, but I appreciated learning about the technical issues and politics of self monitoring. I'll definitely be back in the future.

Thanks so much to Mark for organizing a fun meetup! I was excited to see all of the interesting people from Portland and surrounding areas. Didn't expect there would be so much interest and excitement!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
