Rockaway Beach Weekend Escape, Fri.-Sun., Nov. 9th-11th

Friday thru Sunday, Nov. 9th-11th will be our next Coast trip! $65 for two nights and three days at north Rockaway Beach in a two-story private home with a third story crow's nest with a 270 degree beach/ocean view. The house is new construction and sleeps ten in three bedrooms plus the rec room (last to sign up get the rec room ;-). It has Dish TV, a high vaulted ceiling and fireplace, a downstairs game room with foosball and ping-pong and wireless internet.

Nearby is the Jetty Fishery where we'll get fresh crab, clams, and oysters right out of the tank and into the boiler. We'll eat sitting on rustic picnic benches right on the inlet to Nehalem Bay across from where the seals sun themselves on the beach. This section of Rockaway is actually called Nedonna Beach or Manhattan Beach which is two miles north of the City of Rockaway Beach and ten miles south of Manzanita.

Nehalem Winery is not far, as well as kayaking, and boat rentals for crabbing or fishing. Also, Karla's Smokehouse is nearby for some smokin' salmon which comes out of the smoker mid-day.

Saturday night (weather permitting) we can watch the sunset over a driftwood campfire on the beach. Or, we'll sit around the fireplace...whichever it will be relaxing and a fun time with friends. Some of you may want to help organize a supper, breakfast snacks, or desserts. I'll probably grill some salmon one night unless one of you volunteers to cook.

A great hike we did last time goes 2.5 miles out the Cape Lookout peninsula through an old growth forest about 600 feet above the ocean. It's a relatively flat, easy trail with great scenery. The Pelican BrewPub at Pacific City has award-winning micro-brews and is right on a great surfing beach (you can stop by on the way back home if you don't mind going the long way.)

So, if you want to come you'll need to pay to reserve your $65 spot with PayPal (below). This will be non-refundable, so if you can't come you'll have to resell your spot to someone else. (This is the only way I can figure how to do this since I'm not a bank.)

Call me if you have questions,
