Note: This run has minimum vehicle requirements: 2" or more of lift, 33" or larger tires, lockers recommended but not required.
I've coerced Lynn into one final hard run before my left knee surgery takes me out of my manual transmission Jeep for a while.
Crazy as it seems, we are planning a run in the Payson area for Saturday, December 8, 2012. Average temperatures in Payson on this day are a low of 25 and high of 53. Please dress appropriately.
We'll meet at the Giant / Shell station at the Payson Home Depot at 9:30 a.m. and are planning on being out most of the day. If all goes well, we should be finished before it gets dark.
This will be a three segment run:
Segment 1: FR 1171 (approximately 9 miles) - this is fairly tame and scenic run through the pine forest that we'll access from Hwy 87 and sets us up for segment two. We could take the main road to segment two, but what's the fun in that?
Segment 2: Pyeatte Draw (approximately 9 miles) - two to three miles of this segment will include the infamous Pyeatte Draw. We'll take our vehicles up the draw and sample the various lines, steps, and dips that make up this draw. Playing is encouraged during this segment, but we don't want anyone to go too crazy. We still have to complete segment three.
Segment 3: FR 433 (approximately 9 miles) - Did I say forest road? Lynn tells me it's more like a narrow, rocky, ATV trail. It's guaranteed you'll get some new pin striping. This segment will finish on Highway 260 near Star Valley. Watch your speed as you return home from Star Valley. This tiny town has four photo radar cameras!
Note: We aren't sure exactly what weather permitting means, so we're are taking a wait and see approach. If there is major snow, this run will probably be cancelled. If there is an all-day cold rain, this run will probably be cancelled. But, as long as it's pretty reasonable weather with pretty reasonable temperatures, this run is on.
If this run happens to get cancelled, it's not cancelled for good. We'll reschedule for spring.
