Bach, Beethoven, and Brunch

Somehow I never made it over to Bach, Beethoven, and Brunch in Mellon Park the last couple of years. Mellon's the closest park to me and I always meant to go but something always ended up coming up. This year, I figured I'd post so I'd have to show up! I vaguely recall that they were supposed to have a coffee vendor last year -- I'm not sure if they will again this year. Do bring your breakfast or brunch and we'll have a picnic outside listening to great music. I'll meet you in front of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts building (the yellow one at the corner of 5th and Shady) at 10am. If you're later, come find us near the stage. The concert starts at 10:30am. From
Pittsburgh Parks: This longtime favorite series entertains music lovers on the lawn at Mellon Park. Satisfy your appetite for classical music by treating yourself to a special Sunday morning composed of Bach, Beethoven and Brunch. Join us for this delightful buffet of classical melodies. Don't miss the "Best Brunch" competition during intermission - the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts will award prizes! The the group performing is the Eastern Watershed Quartet. From
their website: Eastern Watershed plays minor mode therapy music - Klezmer with touches of Balkan and Middle East flavor. Repertoire also includes polkas, swing and other popular dance tunes. Whether strolling or performing on a concert stage, the group creates an energetic and sometimes whimsical appeal for all ages. After the concert I plan to stick around and see the Fiberart International exhibit at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts if you're interested. From the
Fiberarts Guild: Fiberart International 2010 is an exhibition of contemporary fiber art presented by the Fiberarts Guild Of Pittsburgh, Inc. It's located at both the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and the Society For Contemporary Craft... The Fiberarts Guild produces juried exhibitions of member’s work so that established and emerging artists may exhibit side by side. Fiberart International is the only on-going triennial open to textile artists everywhere in the world. This event is also posted on
