CS & UX: Putting the Pieces Together

Content Strategy (CS) and User Experience (UX) might seem like completely separate disciplines. But the reality is they’re working towards the exact same goal: amazing digital experiences that satisfy both business objectives and user needs. So, instead of separating them shouldn’t we really be asking how the two could come together to create solutions?

Join us to hear how brother-and-sister duo Jon Hrach—UX Designer at Modest UX—and Anna Hrach—content strategy manager at ethology and co-organizer of the Phoenix Content Strategy Meetup—had to do just that when they went from tight-knit siblings to real-life coworkers.

Excellent presentation on two topics that are showing up in everyday conversation with client but that are still not clearly defined much of the time. Anna and Jon nailed it with clear explanations and demonstrations of how to be effective in applying both and getting then to work together. It was great how they also used some slides as clear examples of why design is critical to comprehension. ;)

I enjoyed the meetup a lot! I got there late and didn't get to meet talk to anyone beforehand (or sample the nibbles), but the program helped me understand better the connection between CS + UX and how they can make digital products better. Thanks for setting this up.

I really enjoyed the presentation. Great group of like minded individuals battling the same issues for the greater good of the users. I'm planning on coming back and contributing to future events.

Enjoyed the relevant, but basic, presentation. The Hrachs were engaging and knowledgeable. Learned a lot during Q&A.

It's too late for me to make it by the start time. I hope someone else enjoys my spot.

Will this event be recorded and put online somewhere? I'll be working late and have to miss the beginning.

What's the parking forecast in those parts? I'm excited about coming but always a little leery of downtown parking hunts. See you tonight.

    October 24, 2013

    • Rebekah C.

Hi Liz, I've just heard from New City Studio that the parking lot across the street from the front entrance is usually safe to park in after 5pm as well.

I'm so sorry to have to miss this! I never thought I'd made it off the wait list haha. Looking forward to the follow-up! I'll change my RSVP so the seat can go to someone else. :)

Guys, Jessica and I have to bail on tonight, would have loved to have been there to see Team Hrach!

    October 24, 2013

  • Khayree B.

I'm supremely stoked for this. I have a UX buddy who's on the waiting list. Should I invite him to make a wager on getting in, or are the doors pretty much closed?

    1 · October 24, 2013

    • Anna H.

Hey, Khayree! We're supremely stoked, too! Glad you can make it. Right now there is quite the waiting list, which we weren't anticipating. But next month's event will be announced soon, and we're definitely working on a bigger venue so everyone can attend next time. Also, we're going to be posting slides to slideshare, so those who aren't able to attend will still get to see what this event was all about.

    • Khayree B.

Sounds good! I'll let him know.

I really wish I could attend- but I've just got too much stuff going on! I hope who ever takes my spot takes good notes :)

    1 · October 24, 2013

    • Anna H.

We'll be sure to post the slides on slideshare after, Lauren!

Hello! This is just a friendly reminder: If you're on the RSVP confirmed list and your plans have changed or you otherwise won't be able to join us tomorrow night, please be sure to update your status to "not coming" so some of the folks on the waiting list can snag your spot. :)

That is all. And to everyone that's coming, see you tomorrow!

    1 · October 23, 2013

  • Laura O.

Since I'd only be able to stay until 7, I'll make my spot available for someone else, and look forward to any notes shared!

    October 23, 2013

    • Rebekah C.

Thanks for the update, Laura! We'll definitely share any links to notes or the deck here.

      October 23, 2013

  • DDee

Will this be televised anywhere or a video??

    October 23, 2013

    • Rebekah C.

Hi DDee, No video this time around, but I'm sure Anna and Jon will make their deck and notes available afterward. We'll be sure to post links to those here. :)

      October 23, 2013

  • Wayne N.

I'm going to be out of town and have to cancel my reservation but can't find where to do that. I want to make my seat open to someone else. Best of luck Jon and Anna!

    October 23, 2013

    • Anna H.

Hi, Wayne! Sorry to hear you can't make it. In the upper right corner (right below the header) of the event page you'll see your RSVP status. Just click that to change it. We hope to see you at the next one!

      October 23, 2013

  • Bart B.

Hi Rebekah: Is your waiting list "don't even think about it" long, or "there's a chance we might squeeze you in" long? Lemme know. Thanks.

    October 22, 2013

    • Rebekah C.

Yeahh, the waiting list is about as long as the actual RSVP list! CRAZY PANTS. We will shoot for a bigger venue next time around. Also, trying to work on a way to get a recap out to everyone who couldn't get in this time around. Stay tuned.

      October 22, 2013

  • Xanthe H.

Please add me to the waitlist. Thanks!
