Meeting minutes are posted for our last meeting.
In it you can see the mission statement and some ideas for naming this food coop. If ANYONE has any good ideas for names, please send them to the list! I will be posting a request on the Lefferts Listserv and maybe a design one or on twitter, but if there networks you have that would be good for name brainstorms, please forward the request to them. We are looking for a name that is broader than PLG, but not so broad (like "Brooklyn") that it loses uniqueness and is universal. The word "Cooperative" should be in the title and something like "Food" or "Grocery" to be more specific about its cooperative function.http://files.meetup.com/1507968/101509_FoodCoop_Minutes.doc
On another note, I am working with CAMBA on a USDA Community Food Projects grant to help fund this food coop startup. It is very very competitive and is a lot of work to pull together then narrative. I will have to make some assumptions about what we are going to do (as we are proposing a 3 year plan) for the grant which I will share with you all and keep you updated. If you are interested in assisting, please email me. The grant is due November 19, so if can help, it will be quick turnarounds.
Which brings me to the NEXT MEETING. In our meeting there was a lot of interest in getting an outreach strategy going. Senator Adams has graciously loaned us an extensive contacts lists that we can start from. Our next meeting on Thursday, October 29, will be working on an outreach plan, figuring out a process, timeline, goals and marketing materials needed. PLEASE attend! The food coop does not happen without COOPERATIVE WORK from as many people as possible.
Looking forward to seeing you all again and let's all keep working toward making this food coop a reality!
Feel free to email me any thoughts, ideas you might have.
