Do you love the art of photography?
Do you wish to meet others who have the same passion and desire to get together in order to share ideas and learn from one another?
Then the Portrait Photography Group is the right place for you!
All photography skill levels are welcome!!!
Our focus has always been on the art of photographing people, but we have recently expanded to incorporate other forms of portrait art, including food photography, still life, landscapes, and the world of digital manipulations.
Our Meetup group was founded in 2010, and we are now in 7 different cities, with more than 500 events behind us and 1000's of members. The membership base is a strong and connected one, where many friendships have sprouted.
We hope you will join us soon and we are always looking forward to meeting new members at upcoming events.
In the meantime, we have a few on-line communities also where we'd love to have you join us "virtually".

Our group activities include:
- Simple Meet & Greets - for networking and idea sharing
- Charity Events - for networking and practicing our skills while supporting our local communities and organizations
- Classes & Workshops - orgainzed and taught by professional photographers - to learn more about posing, lighting, equipment, post processing software, and even marketing & sales (If you wish to make a little money with your photography
Most of our events DO involve "MODELS", however, the word "MODEL" for us does NOT mean a professional model, but rather a subject willing to allow us to practice and learn with. Some of our models are professionals and some are not, some are experienced and some are just babies (literally).
Our goal is to provide our members with the opportunity to photograph and practice with portrait subjects, at an affordable rate. In order to learn everything from client interaction, to posing, and lighting "live" portrait subjects are needed. However, our belief is that having subjects that require little to no directions doesn't allow for us to grow in these areas.
The prices of our meetups are directly related to the the amount of work the organizers must put into creating them:
- lining up models
- make-up artists
- costumes and/or props
- event planning time and location costs
- taxes, and other fees associated with organizing such groups
Generally the fees for our meetups cost between $20 and $80.
Not all of our meetups are structured as classes or workshops. We have many members who just want to get together with a model and practice or "mastermind" with other photographers.
This is why we say all levels are welcome... everyone shares and helps each other along this path. There is no competition within our group so... please leave your egos behind!
There are no great "trade secrets" that we must keep hidden, therefore we encourage supporting one another and being open with your knowledge and photography skills.
Thanks and looking forward to meeting you soon!
and the organizing team!
