Creating Portrait Art - The Image Capture - Part 2

  • Oct 24, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is Part 2 of a 3 Part Series Workshop in October!

• Part 1 - Inspiration & Discussion - October 10th - Ballantyne area

• Part 2 - The Art Shoot with Models - Oct 24th - Fort Mill

• Part 3 - Creating Portrait Art in Post Process - Oct 28th - Online Webinar

3 Thursday nights - all 3 events for only $60 ... or attend just this one of capturing images of models using inspirational art, for $50.

The October VIP membership is open for enrollment now - simply click- HERE

Once you pay for your membership, you simply comment under the events in that month you wish to attend and you will be added to the RSVP manually. VIPs can sign-up and attend everything in a given month for the one low price of $60 and they do not pay the individual event RSVP price. VIPs also do not have to wait in order to RSVP to an event. VIPS have priority access!

We will be in an outdoor location in the Ballantyne area.  I have some location lighting with me, but will encourage you to bring any of your own as well.  No equipment, except your camera is needed! We will work with Natural light also, for as long as we can.

We will be using various kinds of Artist's work as inspiration for our own photography at this event.  It will not be a typical portrait session, but possibly resemble more of an editorial style shoot. I will help encourage you with different ideas but hope that you will do some researching on this topic and suggest some ideas as well.

The following week we will be meeting on-line in a live webinar, where I will teach you some of the post processing tips and tricks to creating art very quickly on your own. Part 3 will be absolutely free to anyone who attends either Part 1 or Part 2.

If you do not attend this Part 1 - the inspiration Meetup, you may still RSVP for this event, but you may be lost as to why we are posing and choosing the lighting, and composition that we do.

*image credit on the last image goes to Linda Blair - one of our Atlanta members

* Our models at our events are promised at least 1 or 2 high resolution images, from each attendee, in exchange for their time and allowing us to use their images in our portfolios*

I'll look forward to seeing you there!

Please forward any questions to me at [masked]

Lori Jill

P.S. I always encourage you to check the Meetup site the day of the event, for any changes on the event, before driving to us.

Hey everybody. I am missing my light meter from this class. I had it in the studio when we came back in but haven't seen it since. Probably just got accidentally picked up because we all have ones that look alike. Double check for me please.

IDK... I am loosing models and photographers last minute today. Is it the cold? Suppose to be in the 50's
I have two girls still confirmed but one doesn't want to in the cold either

    • Jeff D.

    October 24, 2013

    • Lori J.

      yes, dress warm :-)

      October 24, 2013

    • Lori J.

trying to get a hold of everybody - would like to just move this to the studio. We can go inside to get warm plus we have street lights there and the old train park benches etc...

    October 24, 2013

  • Jeff D.

Will part lll be rescheduled as well?

    October 22, 2013

  • Lori J.

2 problems - 1st - looks like crappy weather all day.
2nd - lost my "couples" models last night at 9:30. Still have 3 females confirmed in costume for this though. Shall we post pone?
I can do Sunday or move it to next Wed
Looking for all of your inputs please!

    1 · October 17, 2013

    • Lori J.

Going for Thursday now and rearranging the "couples" I need for this :-) Almost put it on a tripod and used Curt and I - LOL except he can't get off work in time.

So the 2nd part will be next Thursday now? I'm kinda confused, joined this convo very late!

TYPO - You and the group?

    October 17, 2013

  • Michael C.

Lori, I'd really like to do this since I did the first part but, Thursday 10/24 does not work for me. Is there another day that works for you and you and the group?

    October 17, 2013

  • David P.

Wise decision to move on account of some dangerous and very expensive equipment.

    October 17, 2013

  • Lori J.

How does next Thursday look? I could always move the Webinar out?
yes, I am worried about the call for thunderstorms too and the fact that this hoot involves external lighting, not just cameras.

    October 17, 2013

    • David P.

I agree, Lori. Power packs in the rain are dangerous to people and equipment. I had intended to bring two Quantum portable flashes and do not want to risk them and their power sources: over $1500. Next Thursday is a good idea.

      October 17, 2013

  • David P.

WeatherBug, usually accurate, says Thunderstorms, ungood for outdoor shooting and electrical equipment (like lights and portable high voltage power supplies) does not like rain, no matter how well we might protect our cameras. Add to that the loss of models, and I suggest postpone. I teach Wednesdays in Elizabeth until 5 so making it to Ballantyne at rush hour is a challenge, but doable. Sunday I am fully booked with another shoot and other activites from 1 until after 9:30 p.m.

    October 17, 2013

  • Lori J.

Please park in the far right side of the parking lot. We will walk down by the lake and brick bridge area for photographing

    October 15, 2013

  • David P.

Thursday is a-coming! What will be the location of this shoot? I remember something vague about a Marriott in Balantyne.

    October 15, 2013

    • Lori J.

      It's been updated

      October 15, 2013

Please add me to this Lori.

    October 2, 2013

  • David P.

I have now sent sufficient payment for the VIP list. Please add me to all three events. Thanks for arranging this series.

    October 1, 2013

  • David P.

I tried to join Oct VIP to get the whole thing and got this message. "Return to merchant and try a different payment method

"We are not able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please return to the merchant's website and try using a different payment method (if available)."

How do I join in this fashion and get registered for all three of these great sounding events?

Please add me in. I am really trying to pay but the system won't seem to let it happen.

    October 1, 2013

    • Lori J.

sorry everyone... let me go see if something is happening. I changed emails on my PayPal account and it may be causing issues. Busy day for .... :-(

What is the date? Two different dates are published: 14th here and 15th in previous email.

    September 30, 2013

    • Lori J.

Thanks Robert, if so, please get me in contact with the mom as soon as possible. I prefer before the baby is born. I actually have a maternity to post also this month so maybe she is interested in that too?

      September 30, 2013

    • Lori J.

David, I got your email but will write you tomorrow ok :-)
