Sunflower Fields Shoot-out!

  • Jul 7, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This is always one of our most popular shoot-outs of the year! Everyone walks away with amazing images to add to their portfolios. Join us for this fun time with many models & acres and acres of beautiful SUNFLOWERS!!!

We will have a variety of models and photo opportunities, so don't miss your chance to RSVP and come create with other photographers.  We generally try to do this twice every summer, but there's never any guarantee since the flowers are only in bloom for a week or two.

The images posted above are from the same field last year!

Check out more images at

Here is a link to the website which shows a map of the area.

When you turn on Draper Road go to the end and you will see us in the parking lot.

Please try to arrive on time or you may have some difficulty finding us.

I will have some lighting equipment and am happy to share in order to capture the evening skies, and create some more dramatically lit images, but I also encourage everyone to bring their own flashes, ladders (very handy to have in the fields), and props!

It is best to wear sneakers or boots, and also bring some bug spray.  When the sun begins to set, the mosquito's come out!!!

Bottled water is recommended, and the sunflowers are a little bit of a walk back into the field, so if you have a lot of equipment, a wagon or cart may be needed.

Models are promised 1 to 2 high resolution images from every photographer in exchange for using them in your portfolios. We allow 2-3 weeks to post your images for the models here on this Meetup site.

Looking forward to another great sunflower shoot!

Hope to see you there....

We had a lot of fun despite the bad weather. Great models (and a lot of them). The photographers worked well together also and love the images I am already seeing coming up in the Charlotte Group

Looking forward to later today! Just wanted to let you know that the sunflower fields may obviously be wet and muddy so wear appropriate shoes that can get dirty. Also, there is still a 50% chance of rain and shattered showers (which we dealt with last year also) so bring an umbrella and something plastic to put your camera in perhaps if it starts to rain while in the field.

I will wait a shattered shower out for 15-20 minutes.

Generally my phone does not work well in the field. I will be there for sure. So if it's raining please make your own decision as to whether to join us or not. I will not leave or cancel this event last minute. It is simply too hard to contact everybody who will be driving to the location also. It ALWAYS rains but usually it stops long enough to get some amazing images!

This is the closest address I can find for this event. If you have never been there before you may wish to leave early to find the Draper Wildlife road!
You will travel down the main road of Brattonsville and depending whether you are coming in from Rock Hill area or McConnells, you will see the Draper Wildlife sign on your right or left. You will then travel down a small dirt/ gravel road about 1/2 mile to where we all park. 1080 Brattonsville Rd.
    McConnells, SC 29726
