Come join us for this fun 2 hour photography event in the beautiful Hampton Park location of downtown Charleston.
I have arranged a couple models for this and dress styles that you will love!
The Azelea bushes, trees and lush green areas will make amazing backdrops for your images at this time of day.
Below are a few images from attendees as previous events similar to this one:
And a couple of mine:
The park is very large but has ample parking on a Sunday (from what I have been able to tell). We will meet at the water in the center of the park by the little arched bridge. The 1st 15 minutes will be for introductions and gathering and we will begin shooting at 6:15pm. If you are running later than that you may have some trouble locating us.
You will learn:
1st - composition when working with a congested public park area such as this.
2nd - I will explain/ show how I create variety in what seems like a limited location with minimum effort and minimum props.
3rd - how to look for the right light to compliment the background, and then pose and add light to our subject accordingly.
This workshop is for the beginner to intermediate, but all levels are always welcome to tag along and capture images as they like also.
***The models are always expected to stay within the group confines though.
If you are very new and wish for some instruction, I will be teaching with one model at a time, to those of you who request this.
As much as possible, I will be working with only natural light. I will have a 5-1 reflectors with me and demonstrate how to use it properly. I will also give some help with posing, and teach some basic camera skills, like metering, focus, and depth of field choices.
If you like adding strobes to your session and wish to bring them along, you are welcome to do so. I may or may not use some of my own, but if I do, I will be more than happy to explain this to you also.
No experience is necessary to come to this event. You just need a camera and at least one lens, I usually recommend a 50mm or longer (depending on your camera and style of images).
I primarily work in all manual mode but it's OK if you usually keep your camera in one of the automatic modes. I will help you with your settings if you wish to try manual mode. We have a mix of beginners to working professional photographers among us, and everyone is always willing to help each other!
*Please note: You are REQUIRED to upload your images to this website within 2 to 3 weeks of an event. The models are allowed to ask you for 2 full resolution images for them to print from and the rest you may share digitally if like, and leave your watermark on. This is the exchange for the models time and for the model release that allows you to use them within your websites and portfolios. However, the release is not signed for you to sell them to 3rd party sites. If you sell to stock photography sites, you will need to bring your own release and ask the model before shooting if he/ she is willing to allow you to do so.
Please forward any questions to me at [masked]
P.S. I always encourage you to check the Meetup site the day of the event, for any changes on the event, before driving to us.
