had another awesome time Saturday, really enjoy being able to take part in the canning facility. everyone helps everyone else out and that is a lot of the fun, helping each other, canning your own insurance policy you can eat, and meeting new people. thank you all for making Saturday another fun filled adventure.

also due to work, i will not be able to make this Tuesday, so i will change my RSVP to reflect this to give some one else the opportunity to attend. have fun, and i really wish it wasn't ending in June.

I read the instructions above about the limit of 25, but I only want to purchase bulk items (corn, oats, etc.). Is the limit of 25 for access to the canning facilities, or is that for ordering as well? I already have my own storage items; I just want to purchase the bulk food items. Y'all are close and have great prices.

Everyone who attends is expected to both help open the session, assist in canning, and clean up after the session is over. It is not really designed to be a cash and carry type event as everyone who benefits from the prices (essentially cost plus state sales tax) contributes by helping out. If you are high on the waiting list stick around because people inevitably drop out as the date gets closer right up to the time to be there. If everyone just came, purchased what they wanted, and left, the clean up work would fall on those who just happened to stay until the end. I know from experience, it has happened to me a couple of times.

How are these items packaged normally?

    March 22, 2013

    • patty t

Ok, so when food is bought, it is already canned or in mylar bags? Wondered if products bought were just given to you in plastic or paper bags. Also, do I need to bring my dolly to get these heavy items out to my car? thanks bunches!

    • Gregory E Seneff S.

Most of the food that is purchased is canned while you are there. However, if there are cans from the last session they ask you to buy those first. There are some pre-canned cases, but those are limited to just a few items on the list. A dolly would be a good idea, but they have a couple of grocery carts. Usually some of our group will help too.
