Preparedness Fair

Come and spend the day learning valuable provident living skills. There will be 15 classes offered at this fair including pressure canning, 72 hour kits, herbal healing, mutual assistance groups, using your grains, dutch oven cooking, security, water storage, HAM radio, food storage, emergency medicine, long-term power outages, and edible plants. There will also be several displays including a very long tasting table of items prepared from food storage. Classes will be 50 minutes long so you will have a chance to attend four over the course of the fair.

This is a finger-food potluck so bring something to share.

There is no admission fee.

The fair was an incredible venue, and even though I work on food storage all the time, these classes clued me into just how much I don't know about being truly prepared. I appreciated so much information and look forward to trying to implement the new knowledge. I actually think time is of the essence, and putting off preparing, hoping the "world will just get back to normal soon, for Heaven's sake", is a pipe dream. The world has changed and the new normal is uncertainty. Thank you Rusel, and to all the wonderful teachers for the classes to help me and my family prepare and survive in the critical times that are coming. I hope to be of help in the effort going forward, and have already started talking about what I learned, to all who will listen.

Thank you to everyone that participated, both instructors and attendees. The classes were relevant and the discussions lively. I hope this motivated everyone to improve their personal readiness posture. Class notes will posted soon on the message board.

I learned a great deal at the fair and wished I could've attended several other classes in addition to the four. Please let us know when the presentation Power Points are available online for us to view. Will there be some info posted about each class's presentation? (Specifically, I am interested in getting info on the Mutual Assistance Groups.)
Thanks much to the organizers of this event!

Great Day. Wish I could have attended more of the classes, but maybe I can catch some of the ones I missed at the next fair. Thanks Rus and everyone who helped for putting this on. I look forward to the next one.

Since I was teaching a session, I am only rating the set up & atmosphere. As always, Rus Hayes did a stellar job of setting up seminars and resources for emergency preparation. It was great having attentive and participatory groups in the sessions.

The last series of classes ends at 3:00. Instructors and demonstrators will be around until 4:00 to answer questions and mingle. I will have my vacuum canner available to can a dry item for those that bring the item and a jar with lid and ring. I have an emergency jar of candy bars that I have vacuum sealed because chocolate can make you smile in the worst of times!

Will there be an availability to setup vendor booths at this event? Is there a cost for that?

    April 13, 2014

    • Rusel H.

There are no vendor booths and no sales or soliciting allowed at the church due to its tax free, non-profit status.

      April 13, 2014

  • Polly H.

Would it be possible for someone to teach a class on sharpening knives, axes and all sorts of necessary tools? Yes, I can watch youtube videos but that is nothing like a hands on or in person class.

I'm somewhat into that, not that I'm a pro, but a dull knife is just dull. Too bad I have National Guard that day.

      January 27, 2014

    • Michael S.

Actually I think I will be able to make it now. They changed our National Guard duty to the end of the month.

I just realized this is Easter Saturday, I will be out of state with family in KY. Maybe I'll get to attend the next meet-up....

How do we register for the classes?

    April 4, 2014

    • Rose S.

You will choose your classes the day of, we are not pre registering. You can choose four classes, and most classes are offered during each time slot.

      April 5, 2014

  • Marsha R.

That's what I will do then, thanks for your help Gregory.

    1 · April 3, 2014

I can't find a link to choose classes. Help!

    April 2, 2014

    • Gregory E Seneff S.

The classes are generally repeated throughout the day. Just come, make a list of the classes you want to attend and attend them in order. Be sure and double check the schedule when you arrive to make sure that a class is not limited in frequency or size and adjust accordingly. I feel sure that you will gain a lot of knowledge no matter what you attend. I hope to meet you there!

Make it a family affair. Bring those out of town relatives, what could go wrong?

Joseph Kwame Duku-jkd Brings up a good question. Wanting to know if it can be filmed or documentary for these classes. Would anyone oppose the idea? I could bring a camera or two. Then post to YouTube, and even make copies on CD to share.

It's your seminar my friend, no reason is necessary to satisfy me. I offered, merely in support for the group. Thanks just the same, looking forward to our meeting.

LOVE the idea of learning these things, but want to learn it ALL & hate that I can only fit-in 4 classes! Will these classes be available at other times? (Sorry, you can tell I'm new.)

    March 17, 2014

I know its hard to chose, but more than likely they will be offered agin individually or at another Preparedness Fair.
