Winter Survival Academics

Come on out, sip some coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy a couple of hours of academics and discussion on winter survival. This course will include cold weather injuries (frost bite, hypothermia, trench foot, chill blains, snow blindness) and how to avoid them, fire strategies, signalling, shelters, clothing selection, etc. Video clips and recent, real-world examples will be used to emphasize the importance of training and the consequences of not knowing what to do in a cold weather emergency.

I will be teaching this class. I am a graduate of U.S Army Ranger School, the Army Cool School, and The Air Force Arctic Survival School (taught near the Arctic Circle in Alaska in the winter).

These are great skills to have in a cold weather environment (like Tennessee this year!)

I hope to see some of you there!

I learned a lot of good information and the handouts will be good reference material. Thanks for a very worthwhile class!

William and I enjoyed it. We learned a lot. He hopes it will help him with his scouting.

The point of any class is to learn some new things to make you better. I did that. Rusel had a good class and having a handout of the information was great to go into a binder for reference. Thanks Rusel

Only attend Rus' class if you want to learn something useful! He is a great teacher and very encouraging. I always learn something and he is open to other reasonable approaches to problems and solutions. I attend his sessions whenever time allows.

I have enjoyed Russ's classes in the past. He has a lot of knowledge to share. Should be well worth the $10, especially if you have little or no cold weather survival skills.
