Camping- Juniper Springs group Campgrounds

Let's go on a camping/hiking/fishing (Big Bear Lake) trip up in the Big Bear area.  I plan to reserve a group campground and will have space for 18 people and parking up to eight cars.  Also, the campground has Vaulted toilets and campfire rings.

What to bring: Camping stuff, Tent, sleeping bag, hiking gear, water, snacks and a fun attitude.  As far as meals, I'm thinking we have a group breakfast Saturday&Sunday and a group dinner Saturday&Friday.  We have to figure out the logistics of how this is going to work out leading up to the camping trip. That is, who is responsible for the menu each of these meals, pitching in money and cooking the meal. Oh yeah, and who will do the dishes....LOL!  You're on your own with lunch.  Also, going into town for dinner and/or breakfast could be an option.

Carpooling: We need to consider carpooling because of the limited parking.  We'll begin arriving at the campground as early as 3p.m. and go on from there.

    to the fires in the Idyllwild area, we identified a new campsite in Big Bear, Juniper campgrounds.  It will cost a little more.  If this is ok, we will need $5.50 per person.   I will book if the majority is ok with the change.  At this point, I just need to know if you are for the change.  I can collect the money later.  Also, this is a group site.  So the number of parking spaces is not an issue.  Send an email or text me at,[masked], your response.

    Hi Everyone, we are starting the process of meal planning. We were thinking of a group dinner Friday night, and breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday. We will also provide sandwich meats and cheeses and peanut butter and jelly and bread and fruit for lunches. We will just divide the costs up per person.

    Everybody will be responsible for their own drinks, snacks, water, etc. (and toilet paper!)

    We were thinking of maybe going into town for dinner Sat night, but remember we won't have showers!

    What are your thoughts and do you have any meal ideas (requests) or diet restrictions?

    Eric and I are looking to carpool to the site but we can't stay until 6pm on Sunday, which is the time indicated on the event info. Is there room for both of us in a car that will be leaving idylwild in the afternoon. I'm a little concerned about having enough room for our equipment in a car as well.

      I just spoke to a ranger and they said that if the cars are small we should be able to fit 3 cars at one campsite which is allowed. Is it possible to have one of the campsites dedicated for the pkg of the smaller cars? My car is a sedan. I'm sorry to make an issue out of this but I would really prefer to drive if possible.

    Update- Friday night dinner will be on your own since people will be arriving at different times. Please let me know if you would like to go to town for dinner Saturday or stay at the campground. We will have some portable stoves and the fire pits for cooking.

    Hi Everyone,

    I like to provide everyone an update regarding the camp outting in a couple of weeks:

    Carpooling- At this point, we have three campsites reserved. One car is allowed per site at no fee according to the website. However, I contacted the Ranger station this morning, we can have an additional vehicle per campsite at $5 per day. Allowing us up to six cars. There will be a collection box at the campsite entrance to leave this fee. At this point, we have three carpools and they will have the priority to not pay for parking. The following carpools: Michelle-Redlands, Frances-Moreno Valley and Robert-Beaumont. I have room for four. Michelle and Frances, please let everyone know how many people you can take.

      cont) Misc- there is no water at the campsite. So bring plenty of water (Drinking, cooking, and wash). I'm going to look into getting a solar shower. I believe it holds up to five gallons of water. Not too much water but enough to rinse ourselves of the salt. Also, Michelle, Julie and myself plan to bring fire wood for the cooking and to keep us warm at night. Outside of that, bring the ten essentials for hiking, a tent and sleeping bag. If don't have a tent, please make arrangements to share space with someone. Other than that, everyone have a great start to your week and see you soon.

    Hi Robert, I am in, but it looks like my whole family wants to attend, so I booked site 26 for us. That will help solve a vehicle problem, too! If we don't have eight, we can handle overflow from the other 3 sites. (It appears the rest of my family doesn't mind not showering for a weekend!). We have lots of cooking/camping stuff also.
