Hike to the 'M'

Let's join Blue Mountain Joe who will be leading us up Box Springs Mountain using the Two Trees trail. If we choose, we may continue to the M and C, this will add a few miles. The hike is around 3.5 miles (around seven miles round trip) each direction with a 1200 feet elevation gain with a moderate to difficult hiking level. The path is steep in parts, dirt and uneven. Bring extra water and enjoy the gorgeous views once you reach the top. There have been sightings of coyotes, snakes, and rabbit on the trail. This is a hike with rugged and diverse terrain, and expansive views and interesting rock formations

From the 215/91 take 60/215 fwy eastbound: Take the Blaine Street exit, the first off ramp, turn left (turn right if traveling west on the 60/215) follow Blaine St. all the way to the end. Park in dirt lot where Blaine ends towards the left we will take a short walk to the trail head proper.

Dogs are welcome, as long as they are well-behaved, on a leash, and cleaned up after.

Considering the elevation gain, some may consider this a STRENUOUS hike. So please be in a moderately decent shape for hiking and prepare for a good work-out.

Bring: ~1.5-2liters of water, snacks, running shoes or hiking boots, comfortable/warm clothing.

Lunch: Afterwards, we'll have lunch at Farmer Boys in Riverside:

2901 Iowa Avenue
Riverside, CA 92507

If you bring a guest you must stay with them and are responsible for their safety.

hey what can I say?? Born and raised in San Diego! This photo is at the end of the Bolt to the Q 5K Run in 2012. The run started at the Chargers training facility and finished on the field of Qualcomm (Jack Murphy to us old timers) Stadium.

I'm not sure if I am free that day. But if I am I will come up from my house on the Moreno Valley side of Box Springs and meet you all along the way. Easier to bring my dog too. :-)

In addition to the "M" and "C ," we could add a three mile loop or even do Sugar Loaf a short steep climb about a mile away.

I changed the lunch location to Farmer Boys since it is more convenient to get to after the hike.
