Catalina camping trip

Let's enjoy a backpack/camp trip to a remote beach area on Catalina Island. Rated "One of the Best Campgrounds in the West" by Sunset Magazine, Little Harbor Campground is perfect for campers who enjoy playing on the beach or in the water. Located about seven miles east of Two Harbors. I can testify, this little remote area is a location to be experienced.  Simply breath taking!

Plan: The plan is to ride over at 8am on the Catalina Express from San Pedro to Two Harbors. At which time, we will backpack approximately 7-miles to Little Harbor to set-up camp. After which, you can hang-out and enjoy the beach, the sites, and the company. Others have the option to hike 4-miles to the airport for a buffalo burger. Later in the evening, we'll share in food, company and stories of our latest adventures.

The next day, head out for the 2:15p boat ride back to San Pedro depending how long we want to hangout at Little Harbor.

The campground has running water and potable restrooms.  More details of the campground can be found by going to the following link: http://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/camping-and-boating/two-harbors-camping/little-harbor.

If you are interested, RSVP for this activity.  Initially when you RSVP, you'll be put on the Wait list. After I receive the per person reservation fee of $21, I will move you onto the Attendee list. Your reservation fee can be made through my PAYPAL account ([masked]) or mailed.

Also, you will need to go to Catalina Express's website to book the boat ride over, http://catalinaexpress.com/. The round trip ride from San Pedro to Two Harbors is $74.50.

What to bring: Tent, sleeping bag, food, warm clothes, swim suit, toiletries, cooking equipment. Also, Two Harbors, where we are docking, has a general store to purchase food and supplies. But keep in mind, the purchase price is a few cents to a couple of dollars more.

This activity is cross-posted on the Temecula Valley Outdoor Adventures meetup site.

Eric, just to let you know, Catalina Express does not allow heating fuel on the boat. If you use fuel to heat your food, it can be purchased at Two Harbors.

Thanks! Purchased a REI MARS 80 wanted a sleeping bag compartment. Also has a compartment for a camelback bladder. My other overnight backpack I got in 1998 has travelled the world and still is in good shape. Seen hundreds of miles of slow walking. Time to retire for a better padded one more comfort. LOL

Hi Eric, I emailed you my work address. I just ordered a new backpack...27ounces! I get it tomorrow. The one I used during the last Catalina trip was good with the exception of not being able to reach my water bottle. Had to take it back to REI. What did you get?
