Full Moon Potluck Hike to Morton Peak

Full Moon Potluck on Morton Peak. Sign up to bring treats to share.

Please bring a flashlight in addition to your other essentials.

Morton Peak is a peak in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains that overlooks the Mentone, Redlands, and Yucaipa areas. Perched on top is a historic fire lookout which you can rent out and spend the night in. The views from the top on a clear day are tremendous.

Common plants are chamise, manzanita, live oak, yucca, ceanothus, and many types of seasonal wildflowers. Animals that you may see up here are raptors, hummingbirds (there is a feeder on the lookout), quail, rabbits, mule deer, bobcats, foxes, snakes, and lizards.

Take Hwy 38 east of Redlands/Mentone. About 1.5 miles past the Mill Creek Ranger Station turn left on ForestRoadĀ 1N12.

Do we have to drive on any part of this Forest Road? How far past the bridge is it? Do we just park and hike or drive up the road and hike? I have a Prius.

It's a very short dirt road just off the 38, its also our parking lot. We'll meet at the beginning of the forest road. Your Prius will be fine, Julie parks hers here too.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
