Regular Monthly Meeting at PT Community Center

OK, photographers, here's the agenda for this Monday night's Regular Meeting:

Main Topic:  SmartPhone Camera Use/Apps

This discussion will be lead by two of our members: David Gluckman and Phil Baumgaertner.  David will give us a BRIEF overview of using your smartphone for VIDEO recordings.  Phil will give us a BRIEF overview of tethering a smartphone to your DSLR.

We will also discuss the best camera APPS for your smartphone, for both iOS and for Android phones.  I'll have a list of all the ones that seem to be especially useful.  Hopefully, we will show you a short YouTube Video about smartphone apps.

A Lively Q & A session is expected, so bring your SmartPhones and your questions/answers so we can all learn from your own experiences.  If you'd like to show some of your phone images, please bring them on a zip drive.

For whatever time is left over after our SmartPhone camera discussion will be filled by sharing of our images!  Please bring them on a zip drive, printed or on a CD and we'll project them onto the big screen.

We've had several new members sign up on this site.  WELCOME!! to all of you!!  We're so pleased that you found us and look forward to meeting you!  Please come to this meeting so we can introduce you to everyone!  We are always happy to see new members - meetup works very well in that regard!!!!!

I need to apologize to the PT group last month, when my cell rang not once, but twice...I finally just left! I'm on "emergency call duty" from 7 pm to 7 am at D-View apts where I live; however, I've been house-sitting (w/pets) from July 9 - Aug 25! SO! Again, I apologize!

I both love/hate smart phones :-) But i definitely love some of the apps that are showing up for them. Michael showed me a smart phone without the phone, that would run many of these apps without the cost of the monthly contract. Some of the very useful apps are DOF calculators, exposure calculators, the photographers ephemeris which shows where the sun/moon will rise and set. I used to drive downtown to PT to see if there was fog. Now, i have a page of DOT cams, and i just check the two PT cams, fog or no. And i demonstrated my Sony Nex6 camera which allows my smart phone to operate it from 120' away. Carol asked a very good question with regard to the remote operation of the camera. What can you use it for? The pickings are few - i agree. But the purpose was to discuss what was out there and what it does. In addition, Allan brought some film pictures from his Hasselblad - cool, and Carol brought some pictures she took in Maine and locally, also cool.

Sorry to miss. Have been assigned to a camp out Monday and Tuesday meaning I will be out of town. Bummer. Should be a great and fun discussion. I virtually never use my phone 5S for photo purposes. This meeting would likely have changed all that!

Sorry we can't be there. Maybe it's for the best, for two ancients without smartphones!

We will have time to show member shots, so bring those but keep your shots to 10 or less, if you can step through them quickly. I have a few from Lake Ozette, but whatever you are working on or have seen, lets talk about them. Enthusiasm is contagious :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
