Capitol Forest, Waddell Creek 6/22

This has become my most favorite place to ride. Not far off the freeway. Trails are generally pretty easy.. Good times! I'd consider this more of a novice type ride, but might not disappoint more advanced..... Capitol forest has a little for everyone. I do have a loop in mind, with some exploring in between...

Thanks for sharing, Travis. Gives me an idea of what it's like over there. Are those one-way trails, because it looks like a race track compared to Tahuya. In other words, would sure be fun to run that flat out. :)

    June 28

    • TravisM

Thanks Mark. The trails are all two-way.

      June 29

  • Mark G.

And, regarding Shawnee's question a while back, it looks quite quad friendly, maybe more so than much of Tahuya.

    June 28

    • Robert A.

Most are quad friendly although I hate running across them on the trail. All trails are two ways, so running flat out might be a bad idea unless you there early on a weekday

    • John Q.

I think in case of new rider I would take them to Tahuya, first, for a few rides. For me Capitol forest if just a touch more difficult. either that or I was so use to Tahuya that i forgot where i was when i ran off the trail twice. :)

Here is some video from the ride. At 14:40 you can see the terrifying car blasting down the road. Once again, great ride!

Well, I'm thoroughly bummed I'm not able to make it but just have too much on my plate at the moment to spend 5 hours on the road (re-siding and repainting my house). Guess I'll have to content myself with an hour or two locally, if the opportunity presents itself. Will have to catch ya'll next time. Wish ya'll a great ride.

  • Dennis H.

Does anyone have a link to some hand written directions or should I use a gsp and the address?

    June 21

    • Robert A.

Dennis, just tap on the title at the top of the page and it will take you to a google map. You can use that versus your GPS

I have been waiting for two weeks for this!

    2 · June 21

What's everyone driving and riding? Might help us gather in the same spot for the meet and greet before the ride. I'll be in a black chevy 2500 and riding a KTM 350 XCF.

    • Justin G.

Ill be in a 78 Scout. Half tan spray paint, half bare metal. Cant miss it lol oh and riding a black raptor

    June 18

  • Justin G.

My god I really need to start paying more attention to the dates and locations of these events. Got there an hour early, got the bike already to go. Then after freaking out thinking I had the wrong location, I check back here to see it's not for another 2 weeks.

    2 · June 8

    • Nathan F.

I've fixed the map. It now leads you directly to the Middle Waddel Creek OHV Staging Area Parking lot.

      1 · June 17

    • Jessie S.

      Thanks Nathan!

      June 17

  • Nathan F.

Kris and I will be there. We're bringing two friends as well.

    June 17

  • Mark G.

So how does Capitol Forest compare to Tahuya? (Just trying to figure out if it's worth the extra half hour or so driving time.)

    June 14

    • Mark G.

Mud's no problem. It's the 100-foot long lakes in the middle of the trail that get old. ;) And, unfortunately, CF is an hour further than Tahuya, making it a 2.5 hour trip one way for me. Would love to attend but have to see how my schedule works out.

      1 · June 15

    • John Q.

I am coming from Arlington and I'd make either CF or Tahuya. Just not that many places to ride up here.

      June 16

  • Jessie S.

Yikes, just found out I'll be working graveyards starting the 21st! Because of that, I plan to be there and on my bike at 9/9:30. Will ride a bit then come back for the 10:30 folks..

    June 11

  • Jessie S.

MikeI don't plan on anything crazy or advanced. If it rains, it will be 'a bit' slippery..

    June 6

  • Greg

    Hey Mike,
Not sure what the plan is. Jessie is organizing this ride.

    June 6

  • Mike R.

Greg, Do you plan this as a newb friendly ride or are you looking for more advanced trails?
