Pleasant Paddlers Program - Eastern Coves Paddle Tour - Lake Pleasant

This event is not a Paddle Arizona event, but an event sponsored by Maricopa County, organized by Terry Gerber, the interpretive ranger at Lake Pleasant, and his Pleasant Paddler Program. He invites us to join him. Occasionally, we may email out information about his events, or post on our calendar, sometimes with and without RSVP on our site. You can just go without RSVP, though, and find out more information here:

Terry states:

We will be crossing the main bay and exploring the eastern coves. Follow the "Pleasant Paddlers” signs to the end of Desert Tortoise Road is where we put into the water. Bring your kayak, canoe, or SUP. You may also call Ranger Terry [masked] ext. 202) and he will provide you with a rental contact. You must bring and WEAR your life jacket on this paddle. Bring water and a snack. We leave the shore at 9AM, don’t be late!

The day started out with no wind and a great temperature. We ended up with 18 people, not counting the two people who wanted to go with us but I could not allow due to having no life vest. Thanks to Dylan for escorting a new paddler back to shore when the wind started to kick up. This group of paddlers was strong and had little problem with the wind that did kick up at the end of the paddle. Nice three hours on the water and little boater traffic. I will see some of you this Saturday for the Lake Pleasant Clean Up.

Yep, us trip leaders can keep posting and telling people, but it seems we still encounter people who do not understand it is the law to at least have one, and smart to wear one. I have extras if I know ahead of time to bring them, but I still cannot make people wear them.

I'm thinking of attending this paddle but live in the east valley (near Higley Rd & Broadway Rd in Mesa). I have a long bed 4dr pickup truck, does any east valley paddlers want to car pool to share expenses?
