Boardgames in Creswell #25: Fight For Your Right To Dungeon

Creswell Game Day #25 (just ten minutes south of Eugene) is a free gaming event that starts at 2pm.

What will we be playing this time? All sorts of board and card games are welcome, so bring one you like! For example, our host will be bringingDungeon Fighter, a lighthearted, fully cooperative game where players take on the roles of heroes venturing deep into a dungeon.

As the monsters in the dungeon get tougher, so do the actions necessary to defeat them. Can you beat that Orc while rolling the dice off your nose, or when rolling with your back to the table? It's a centuries-old battle between good and evil...with a touch of foolish stupidity.

NOTE: Dungeon Fighter supports up to 6 players. Since we'll likely have more attendees than this game supports, its seats will be given to the first six players who arrive. (Plenty of other games will also be available to play too.)

Feel free to post a comment listing any games you're considering bringing. It may help reduce the learning curve (ie: less time explaining, more time playing) if we have an idea of what to expect.

We usually have the entire Community Center to ourselves, meaning no background noise or crowds. It's a great place for gaming!

The community center is at 99 South 1st Street in Creswell, just off the main street, behind City Hall and the fire station.

Here is a link to a picture of the Creswell Community Center building:

The room we'll be in is the one on the left in that photo.

Snacks are okay. We just need to leave the room as clean as we found it.

Drinks are okay, but all beverage containers must have a screw-top lid, to help prevent spills.

There's plenty of free parking in the center's parking lot.

I hope you can join us. Whether you're coming from Eugene, Springfield or Cottage Grove, it's just a short drive to Creswell to join us. It's well worth it!

This is a free event, open to all board and card gamers in our area. Donations will be accepted at the event, which help pay for the space and snacks.

Bring 'em on!

Once again, Tony was invisible. He should wrap himself in gauze, like Claude Raines.

Tony was mysteriously missing. Someone needs to check behind his couch. He might be back there with his watch.

The three week thing probably threw him. I know I was glad to have the group back, it felt like it had been ages!

So many games! I saw Blueprints played, as well as Seventh Hero, Cheaty Mages, and One Night Ultimate Werewolf, but the surprise hit of the day seemed to be Dungeon Fighter, which is definitely a game that people seem to love or hate. It took three tries, but, boy howdy, our little band of adventuring misfits finally traversed the catacombs and defeated Dungeon The Dragon. Kudos, fellow heroes!

Yes! It was a ton of fun. I really enjoyed Blueprints...which I've been trying to get played. It's a nice strategic short game. Cheaty Mages is always fun, and Seventh Hero is a new filler favorite of mine. I'm looking forward to Masquerade as a possible addition to the larger group bluffing games of Coup, avalon, and One Night. Dungeon Fighter is a hoot. I'm glad it found a home with this group. I'm looking forward to adding the expansions. :-)

Sorry we won't be able to make it. We are off on vacation then and will be on the road traveling. Have fun and catch you next time. : )

Since Ebola has now come to our country (New York Sinai Hospital and the two in Atlanta), I think we should consider playing Pandemic. It make the game's tension more palpable.

I have two copies...old and new, plus some expansions. I like Defenders as well. That could be fun to pair with Dungeon Fighter. It can be a little longer. Has the group played Castle Panic?

      2 · August 4, 2014

    • Adaygrit

Nope, Castle Panic has not been a featured game. I think that one would go even better with Dungeon Fighter. Maybe it's the circular boards. I don't have Castle Panic, though... yet.

FYI: Due to unforeseen circumstances, it's necessary to reschedule this game day, pushing it back one week to August 17th. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The dates of all other upcoming Creswell Game Days remain unchanged. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope to see you then!

      I like that plan.

I just hope it's not combustible lemons...

Well, bummer, but I will not be at this particular game day. I like Dungeon Fighter too! Someone will have to do an honorary jump spin and roll for me. I will be there in spirit. See you on the 24th!!!!

That is too bad, you will be missed. Hope it is something fun keeping you away.
